Chaang in Sikkim

edit

Introduction Chaang is a mild alcoholic fermented beverage that is popular in parts of eastern Himalayas. It is served in a homemade bamboo mug embellished with metal bands and an aluminum straw for drinking. Chaang have strong ritual importance among the various ethnic groups of people of the Sikkim Himalayas. Geographical Prevelance Chaang is consumed by ethnically Tibetan, Nepalese people and, to a lesser degree, by the neighboring nations of India and Bhutan. It is usually drunk at room temperature in summer, but is often served piping-hot in brass bowls or wooden mugs when the weather is colder. Ingredients Barley, millet (finger-millet) or rice grains are used to brew the drink. Semi-fermented seeds of millet are served, stuffed in a barrel of bamboo called a dhungro. Boiling water is then poured in and sipped through a narrow-bore bamboo tube called a pipsing. When the boiled barley has cooled, some yeast or dried barm is added and it is left to stand for two or three days when fermentation begins; this concoction is called glum. The barm consists of flour and, in Balti, often has ginger and aconite added to it.[1] After fermentation is complete, water is added to the brew and is then ready for consumption.[2] Chaang is a very famous drink in Pelling as well. Pelling is famous for its panoramic view, it offers the entire mountain range including the mighty Khanchendzonga. Pemayangtse Monastery - One of the oldest Monasteries in the state. Pelling has a good number of hotels and resorts to stay. One of the best heritage hotels in Pelling is Elgin Mount Pandim Hotel which is very close to the Pemayangtse monastery. “Cherry Brandy” is also one of the famous drink at Elign Mount Pandim Hotel which serves as a welcome drink. The hotel also provides spa in case you want to soothe those aching muscles after long drives on the mountain roads. The social activities in these regions require provision and consumption of appreciable amount of alcoholic beverages. Between local people of Sikkim, Chang is often offered during settlement of disputes. Cite error: A <ref> tag is missing the closing </ref> (see the help page).Das, Sarat Chandra. (1902). Replaceable fair use File:Best hotels and resorts in Gangtok.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Best hotels and resorts in Gangtok.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Majora (talk) 21:55, 8 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Birla Shakti Cement

Hello Reema Kumari 01,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Birla Shakti Cement for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Xyzspaniel (talk) 12:10, 17 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Birla Shakti Cement

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello. A tag has been placed on Birla Shakti Cement requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay.   Hello! Thank you for your recent contributions to The Elgin Mount Pandim, Pelling. I did have one note for you. I am working on a maintenance project to clean up Category:Pages using infoboxes with thumbnail images. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:

|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]

Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:

|image=SomeImage.jpg.

There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks!!
