Hello, I'm Darth Stabro. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Cracking (chemistry), but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. ~Darth StabroTalk/Contribs 17:10, 4 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi Refineryguycanada! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Cracking (chemistry) that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. ~Darth StabroTalk/Contribs 17:12, 4 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Ok thank you the notice. I have several dozen sources that I can use for the yields. Would you think that an industry trade journal such as Hydrocarbon Processing with an online article (potentially behind a paywall) would be preferred or a textbook like The Fluid Catalytic Cracking Handbook https://shop.elsevier.com/books/fluid-catalytic-cracking-handbook/sadeghbeigi/978-0-12-386965-4 would be superior? I am still getting acclimated to the wikipedia customs and practices. Refineryguycanada (talk) 17:27, 5 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi Refineryguycanada, I am not the editor who left you the note but the text book is likely the more superior source. See WP:SOURCETYPES and you might find the guidance at WP:EXPERT helpful (to me it reads a bit harsh but I think it's still a good guide). I will also leave a welcome message with some additional guidance about editing Wikipedia. If you ever have questions or need help, you can ask at the Teahouse. • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
