You are right about the Photo being to large and the pixellated look of the photo on the Hiromi Oshima page. I will try and resize the photo with in the infobox. Thanks for helping with this page. hope to add more photos to this page soon Max 00:19, 23 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ola Ray

edit

Hi, thanks for your edits on the Ola Ray article. I've made numerous changes to the filmography that you supplied so that the film titles would be in italics and also linked to their articles. I just thought I'd mention it so that if you work on other actor/actress's filmographies you can standardize the format so that the links work and all that. Thanks, Dismas|(talk) 21:48, 8 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Magazine titles

edit

Hello, I noticed that you've been doing quite a bit of work on articles for Playboy Playmates and such. I thought I should mention to you that according to the Manual of style, magazine titles should be in italics. Therefore it should be Playboy instead of Playboy when referring to the magazine itself. I noticed you removed the italics from one article, now I'm curious just how often you've done this. One of the things I fix most often is italics for magazine, television show, album, movie, book, and play titles. If you could start putting those things in italics, that would help a lot. Double quotes are used for names of songs and individual episodes of a television show, for example "Stairway to Heaven" or "Gourmet Night". Thanks! Dismas|(talk) 02:56, 11 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Image Tagging Image:196205 Marya Carter 00.jpg

This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:196205 Marya Carter 00.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Thanks for uploading Image:197003 Chris Koren 00.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Logo Fever

edit

Dear Lovejoy, I'm very impressed with the work you are doing on science biographies and making the infoboxes look really colorful. However, I'm worried that putting logos of all the institutions might be a little overboard. Personally, I think it is fun and don't mind it myself...however there are other editors on this Wikipedia who get very precious if things start looking a little aesthetically unbalanced. If their ire is raised, they may make trouble. It would be wise if you put an example template on this page: [3]. and start a discussion to try to get consensus on whether people like your university logos in the template or not. Please also carefully read this page, because we have reached a consensus on which fields to fill in and which not. I notice you are not upto date on the discussion there. Please also feel free to contribute to the discussions and weigh-in your opinion to add weight to consentual opinion. Wiki-world business is all done via consensus, so your weigh-in counts. Vannevar Bush: Provost of MIT

edit

You added http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Vannevar_Bush&diff=prev&oldid=78532030 The exact nature of the assertion, and who it was being made by or when is sklightly less than clear, and I wonder if since you presumably have the book which is a reference there you might be able to improve it. Looking at the WP article on the man in question, he seems to have been treasured by MIT (and I'm not clear that Wiener wasn't). I appreciate that American associate professor is more like English lecturer, but is it so very obvious that someone is anti-semitic if one recent PhD is not appointed to one post? The organisation of universities may be different now than it was then, but I suspect that other members of the department might be involved in appointment ctees, and that policy on appointments may not be a matter entirely for one person. ould you care to consider whether that addition makes sense, whether it is relevant, whether it is adequately made out to be true, and whether it is in fact notable? Midgley 16:13, 1 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Who did Bush hire, in that job? And in what way was Bush less involved in his being hired (presumably) later in the year when he joined the faculty? That could usefully be added. Does MIT, or did MIT in fact make hiring decisions by one person deciding even then? It doesn't sound to me like how a university conducts its business. "No excuse not to appint him" is overstated, I could without any great diffciulty think of six, including having already decided to appoint him to a different post about to appear. Midgley 16:34, 1 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
You may wish to reconsider an assertion that MIT had a Provost in 1937 (http://libraries.mit.edu/archives/mithistory/histories-offices/provost.html ) since they report inventing it in 1949, and I continue to think that claiming someone who was appointed to teh faculty in 1937 according to WP was not appointed due to anti-semitism, even if they are actually two separate specific posts, is of a level of reliability that fits our Daily Mail, if that, rather than a serious publication. If I say a fact needs checking, just removing the tag is at least sub-optimal. Midgley 16:42, 1 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
As a student at MIT, could you drop in to the administration and ask to see the source material, please? What posts did Levinson apply for and when, who sat on the appointment panel or considereded each of them. I'm a bit further away. Midgley 16:44, 1 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading Image:197808 Vicki Witt.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. Playmate Navigation Template

edit

Those were not attempts at vandalism. I started switching them to "autocollapse" and realized that the "collapsed" view actually looked better on individual pages, so I reverted them back to the "collapsed" state, that's all. I have been making changes to the templates for the past few days, trying to make them less intrusive to the articles. Not attempts to vandalize. Sorry if I didn't make it clear. 65.213.44.9 22:48, 17 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I found it a little ironic that the person who created the first Playmate navigation template which inspired me to make them a little better ultimately reverted my efforts in trying to make them collapsible and look better (less intrusive) in individual Playmate articles. (Just forgot to put in descriptions on my edits, I guess) With the recent events with fair use image warring and all, I am a little bit disheartened by this place and I think I'll take a break. Not trying for a personal attack here and I do thank you for your vigilence (not being sarcastic here), as wikipedia certainly needs it more than ever these days. You have my utmost respect. 65.213.44.9 23:42, 17 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Jayne_Mansfield_headshot.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Jayne_Mansfield_headshot.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. edit

Thanks for uploading Image:195908 Clayre Peters 14.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. There are also a whole bunch of other ones that you uploaded to show us the faces of Playboy posers. I won't be listing them all here, as there are too many, but take a look at my contributions to see the list. Alternatively, you can have a look at them here. The same procedure as listed above is required for all. Normally, when a person is living, a free image can be obtained. Thank you. Bob 08:52, 2 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello,

The information in this article you wrote about a year ago seems to be taken entirely from a single playboy issue. As such I do not believe it qualifies as biography and have marked it for deletion. Please do not hesitate to remove my tag if you have other reliable sources of information on this person, or have other reason to think it can be salvaged. Fair use rationale for Image:Villars-statphys.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Villars-statphys.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:23, 5 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

File source problem with File:Slaclogo.gif

edit

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Slaclogo.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 07:55, 2 September 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Optigan13 (talk) 07:55, 2 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

I've also noticed on http://www-group.slac.stanford.edu/com/logo_files.htm that the logos in use now are different from the one you uploaded. -Optigan13 (talk) 07:55, 2 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Rglovejoy! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 39 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
