Please leave this diff on Dbachmann's talk page. It is protected. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Bhadani&diff=prev&oldid=118216984 (Troll? me? not me. Calling a spade spade is trolling?)

How long can you stand an admin who merely removes one space here, adds one there, spends a dozen edit counts to post a message on a talk page, then removes it himself, and ends up stepping on others' toes in the process? Dbachmann didn't say stalking merely because he is a gentleman.

It's ok, Leave it at that, unless you care to block me for that.

I don't care to block you unless you are disrupting. Calling someone a 'stupid old man' once is not disruptive, but it's certainly not constructive. Let's just not do it again. – Riana talk 10:52, 27 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hey, now it's used on actual (sort of) pages! That was an IRC request from Bastique, to print out and post in his new office. Glad you like it; hopefully it'll keep the trolls and vandals at bay, as your talk page is *always* near the top of my list. Thank goodness Commons is a tad quieter than here in terms of that... MikeMcGD - Apparently a somewhat confused an inexperienced user

edit

Hi Riana, A few days ago you responded to my request posted to WP:ANI to investigate the vandal-like behavior of MikeMcGD, who was engaged in repeated deletion of material from Ginkgo100 talk page and vandalism cease-and-desist notices being left on his own talk page. (See Regarding User:MikeMcGD. Since that time I came across an unsigned message that the account holder had misplaced on Ginkgo100's page. One editor tracked the message down to that account, and I recognized the comment as belonging to the User:Ginkgo100#Anthony Dallongeville discussion thread. Once the misplaced message was in place, it became clear to me that what I and a number of other editors had construed to be vandalism was, in fact, the flailing of an inexperienced user under the impression that he or she can (and perhaps should) remove finalized conversations. If I assume good faith, then the basis of blocking this account indefinitely appears fragile, and perhaps should be restored at some point. To my knowledge, no one has initiated such a request, but I felt it proper to raise the aspects that a number of us had become confused by this user's behavior. It certainly would have been grand if this user took a few moments to follow some of the links on the welcome message that Kukini posted on the talk page. I should like to note that I regard your behavior perfectly proper in all of this, and continue to value your help. Tale care Gosgood 13:19, 28 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi Riana, Saw your signature at the Papin sisters article. Do you have any particular interest in them? I've been fascinated by them for years and started my own web site on them (papinsisters.tripod.com). Then I found the entry on them on Wiki, so I've made some contributions to it. Unprotection requests

edit

Heh, you're welcome.

We have something like 1,500 sprotected articles right now, many of them protected for months due to situations which no longer exist, so I've been going through the list and trying to get a bunch of them unprotected. This is one of those occasional situations where it would come in handy for me to be an admin, but it would be far too much trouble for me to go through the process of becoming one just for these occasions. Plus, this gives you something to do ;) --Xyzzyplugh 15:15, 28 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Dokusai article

edit

Hi, I saw you removed my prod here. Well, I'd say the reason I've given is valid enough, as the article just hangs in there and its value is close to nothing if you ask me. But, okay, I'm not gonna touch it. Just saying hi and saying that your edit didn't go unnoticed. Have a cool day. --Ouro (blah blah) 18:38, 28 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

That would be my first AfD posting. I'll have to think about it, but certain arrows point in that direction. I actually am thinking of doing a few things on Wikipedia (like cleaning up certain articles and suchlike), but at the same time should concentrate on my meatspace activities. Sigh. RfA

edit

Hi Riana, sorry I keep bothering you, but I wonder if you could give me some more advice on how close I am to being ready for adminship. Per your comments last time, I've now worked hard on Politics, which was rated as Start-Class when I started work and is now a GA. I've also commented on lots of policy discussions and now have over 200 WP talkspace edits. The only two things that worry me are my overall editcount (around 3700, so not quite high enough to be totally secure), and the fact that the essay I co-wrote at WP:CAI has attracted a lot of controversy. (Hopefully the latter point shouldn't influence anyone to vote against me, but if they feel strongly enough, they would be entitled to do so.) So I wonder if you could give me an informal review, when you have the time? Walton Vivat Regina! 20:06, 28 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I understand that you are responsible for protecting this page. I have been attempting to sort of unofficially mediate and resolve some of the salient issues here. However, it now seems clear to me as an uninterested party that one editor inparticular is more or less responsible for this whole debacle. I feel it is unfair for the rest of the wiki community - those which may wish to edit this article - to suffer for the actions of one belligerent POV pusher. I have been attempting to simply inform this individual about wiki policy as it pertains to BLP's, and perhaps another objective opinion, outside of an unnecessary full-fledged mediation process, would help resolve this. Would you or anyone you know be willing to put their two cents in? I would appreciate it. Thanks.--Jackbirdsong 23:13, 29 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

The Behnam

Wow, I saw the discussion that was going on in your archive just by chance. I did a 'what links here' and found out that this individual had made accusations towards me [3].

Why didn't this person contact me first if they had concerns? This is really not assuming good faith at all, and going as far as to make suggestions of blocking me? I don't think that is the place of this person to decide, now is it? I have an interest in Forst beer, so I made a page for it. I followed the format of other pages like Heineken, etc. I got quite enthusiastic and started updating a bunch of pages and linking them to the Italian breweries section. It is pretty sad and de-motivating to see that someone like this individual is so bored and trying to play cop? :-) Anyway, I really appreciate that you looked into it and saw I was indeed making relevant edits. I see the user still attempts to stick with his story I'm doing something wrong. Amazing. :-) anyway, regards. Icsunonove 23:31, 29 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re: Page protections

edit

Hello. I don't want to appear patronising, but I disagree with a few of your page protections- sprotection should be used as more of a last resort measure. For example, you protected Florida; I probably would have declined the request. It's a borderline case though, so it's no big deal. I just remember sprotection being introduced and people making a big deal about how it should only be used as a last resort. The protection policy also says this. Oh, and you probably didn't notice since it's quite a recent change, but the bit of WP:PP that allows users to unconditionally request protection of their userpages has been removed from the policy, and so far nobody has contested the removal. I'd appreciate it if you'd hold off on protecting userpages until it's pretty certain it's going to stay removed. Thanks. --Deskana (ya rly) 15:05, 31 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

User:Tachikoma now User:Kyoko

edit

Hi there!
My account usurpation has been completed, but it had the unfortunate side effect of making my userpage begin with "User:Kyoko (usurped)". At least to me. I reinserted my purple header to hide that, but I would really rather that the (usurped) didn't appear at all, because I think it looks a little ugly. Maybe it's only visible to me and not to other people. I guess you'll have to look at prior revisions to see for yourself.

I hope you're doing well. --Kyoko 15:40, 31 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Now it looks better. I think between all of us, enough people have us on their watchlists that I don't need to tell other people and add to my already substantial user talk count (1401 out of 4151 total edits). As for mail... mail read, will reply later. --Kyoko 16:54, 31 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Tourette syndrome

edit
Link: Tourette syndrome

Thanks for the unprotect; just for future knowledge, it actually made my vandalism patrol work harder. By protecting the main article, the "Tourette's guy" vandals just moved onto all the daughter articles; it's easier for me (and the legions of other Wikipedians who watch the TS article) to just revert whatever happens on the main article, and it's really not that bad except on school holidays. Regards, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 19:20, 31 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

2nd complaint about page protections in as many days! I just go by what gets listed on RFP and make judgements based on that... I think I'll stop protections for a few weeks. – Riana talk 02:14, 1 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
I wasn't complaining, just noting :-) SandyGeorgia (Talk) 03:12, 1 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

No problem—I actually commented because people get overly worried and request protection every time there's a school holiday and kids start posting their TS jokes. Regards, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 03:36, 1 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

deleted article

edit

Hi, my article (Darlene May) was deleted for stated copyright violation with a claim it was pinched directly from another web site. This is patently untrue. I spent hours writing this article, much of it was based on personal knowledge, statistics from non-copyrighted sites, etc. I can easily add the references to the non-copyrighted sites I used. Thank you. damannion

Sorry, it was completely lifted from http://dsa.csupomona.edu/athletics/womensbball/Coach_Darlene_May.asp?setactive=page. I'm looking at both of them right now, they're both identical, you've just put in paragraphs in different places, and taken a few sentences out here and there. deletion request

edit

Hi Riana, I've been making a few changes in my userspace. I've shuffled things around on my main page, and now I have a request for you. I have a page called [[User:Kyoko/Status]] that I no longer use. It was created by (I think) User:Pilotguy at my request. Because other people have also edited it, I'm not sure if {{db-author}} would be applicable. Would you mind deleting it? And if you don't mind, let me know what you think of the new design. Thanks. --Kyoko 15:57, 2 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Oh, hi. I didn't do anything major, but I shuffled the interests around, so that literature and music are on top (they're the things I edit most often), and the health stuff is further down (no need to look like I'm seeking pity). I also added a minimalist Wdefcon indicator in the bar of useful links, located at the top. BTW, did you delete that page I asked? I probably should have looked before asking, but I'm typing now so I might as well ask away. --Kyoko 02:40, 3 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I provided a link above to a usernameblock that I think the account creation block should be lifted, unless the user has a history of inappropriete edits, is a sockpuppet, or has a history of malicious account creation. Wah Yan College Cats

edit

Greetings from Canada,

I have across the article Wah Yan College Cats to which you deleted per CSD criteria and, subsequently approximately four hours later, restored it. I'm seeking your rationale for second-guessing yourself as I am considering nominating it for an AfD. I have since reviewed the article in its entirety. I can find little established notability to justify the existence of this article. It appears to be dominated heavily by content which has not been attributed properly - most likely original research, as the article history shows that it has only been edited by one registered editor. Additionally per notability guidelines for organizations, there appears to be insufficient secondary reliable sources out there to support this article. At most, I can see this article having a section in the Wah Yan College article, but not its own. Would love to hear your thoughts. Luke! 04:50, 4 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hey Luke. I deleted the article under A7, but the article creator showed me some external sources which made me reconsider the speedy deletion (the conversation is in my archives somewhere, I'll dig it out). I did tell the creator, however, that the article could still be deleted under AfD, and may have considered doing so myself, except I wasn't sure it would be proper for me to do so. Anyway, I don't believe the subject is important enough to warrant inclusion, but still believed that speedy deletion was a little excessive, and wouldn't object to an AfD debate. – Riana 05:28, 4 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Here's the conversation, from the creator to me [4] and from me to the creator [5]. Hope that helps you set up your case somewhat. Cheers! – Riana 05:30, 4 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'd give a test3 warning again just to be sure. – Riana 03:00, 7 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
