I did a quick Internet search before taking that decision. The main clincher was the quasi absence of data outside the limited domain of this species and of things like an institutional page. An extra element was the fact IPNI listed them as "fl." rather than with birth years. I did leave Rübsamen-Weustenfeld because she (yes, she) has an article over at de:. Lacandonia

On 5 July, 2008, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Lacandonia, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Taxon

I do subscribe to Taxon so I can get and check information. I can't upload articles for folks through work, though, and I'm not sure about sending PDFs, but I do have quick access, something to know. --Blechnic (talk) 03:52, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Bunch grass/Tussock (grass) Merger

It looks like the discussion over at Talk:Tussock (grass) has died off for the moment. Although the more complicated suggestions look like they might be controversial, it seems that everyone agrees merging Bunch grass into Tussock (grass) is a pretty good place to start. While I'm more than happy to do it, if you can wave your admin wand and do it properly that would be great. Of course, if you feel more discussion would still be beneficial then I'll more than happily bow to your superior expertise. Debate 10:59, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

I'm glad to be here. I am pretty knowledgeable about most of the species, but not very knowledgeable about a single one. I also know next to nothing about protocarnivores. --The Llama! (talk) 12:52, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Invitation

Hi! maxsch created an RFC for myself User:Florentino floro - Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Florentino floro[1] I would appreciate it if you would take a look. Max created this upon message to my adopting parent User:Diligent Terrier here[2] vis-a-vis the pending User:Diligent Terrier/Florentino floro and Maxschmelling (created on 18:38, 18 May 2008 by Diligent Terrier) Thanks. --Florentino floro (talk) 05:23, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Falsification of Signature?

May I please put hereunder instead of linking my message to my parent, and may I please ask for your comment and kindness. "Dear parent, D.Terrier, as your adoptee, may I please ask for enlightenment on this grave or blatant violation of Wikpedia rules. Max used an IP address with India, Mumbai Server, alleging Max passed thereat. This is the critical fact: Max, in the Edit Summary, typed this:

  • Revision history of User:Diligent Terrier/Florentino floro and Maxschmelling:(cur) (last) 06:57, 14 June 2008 59.183.139.189 (Talk) (64,250 bytes)(→Statement by administratorUser:Rkitko) (undo)[3]
  • Clearly, therefor, Max made it appear that administrator User:Rkitko participated, acted and signed the Wiki signer, when in fact Rkitko did not. Max in fact asked for apology, admitting that Max was the one who posted the falsified message.
  • Is this a blatant violation of Wikipedia Rules (which I will, as I hereby reserve) to present to the proper Adm. Notice Board, inter alia, for comment), after with all due respect to your reply. I will alert admin. Rkito on this, and admin User:Lenticel, for comment.

I never tried to discover Max or Cma's personal phone, credit cards, etc. It was Cma's blunder to have edited Flaminsky and then added the link which revealed DOM. This is serious. Since, I am questioning deleted User:Flaminsky's right whatsoever to participate in these dragging Rfc, etc.

  • Wikipedia repeatedly warns on the disadvantages of signing with IP address. Wikipedia know the scores of lawsuits that Google, etc. had had. Max's blunder of Mumbai signing, in essence revealed the truth. Truth was not sought for by me, but it fatefully unfolded amid assume good faith covers.
  • A user page cannot contain any use or misuse of the rules, law and policies of Wikipedia and US, UK and Philippine laws, lest Wikipedia's reputation and reliability be diminished. (Google, Viacom, YouTube were involved in tedious litigations).
  • User's Mike G., Cma, Lenticel and I, had indicated that we are either alumni or students of Ateneo de Manila University amid Wikipedia's policy and rule of harmonious etiquette among editors.
  • For 9 years, I studied in the Ateneo, as ex-seminarian and Jesuit ex-candidate for priesthood. In memory, I retain the noble "ratio studiorum" of St. Ignatius Ateneo's "Manual of Discipline" for students and alumni.
  • Articles 19, 20 and 21, New Civil Code is the most fundamental Code on Phil. human relations which also covers Wikipedia English (USA, UK, and Phil. laws govern). Article 171/172 RPC[4][2. (It is now exactly 25 long years, that as ex-seminarian, the 3 holy angels ridiculed in judgment as dwarfs first appeared to us on June 2, 1983).
  • I fully respect Mike G, Lenticel and all of Filipino editors here, amid these. But I found compassionate application of Wiki rules by unknown foreign editors who could not understand these. I never found kindness in my own country, I found it in Wikipedia.
  • Vide: IP Address of User:Maxschmelling discussion above:[6]With all due respect, may I please write hereunder, a very important - critical fact of this discussion. Max used an IP address and later asked apology for not using Max's username. This is utter bad faith, which might have caused the mediator/s to be misled. At any rate, I write this for the better solution of this dispute in good faith::Max[7] admitted:

Re: Mary Somerset, Duchess of Beaufort (1630-1715)

Hi. Sorry for the belated reply. This was her second married name, but yes, if she was simply known as Mary Capel, then the article title should probably be at that name - however, I can't find a source for this. I added the disambaguation as there's already a Mary Somerset, Duchess of Beaufort. Regards, Craigy (talk) 20:22, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

Request for comment

Hi rkitko. There has been a shortage of comments at Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Florentino floro, and I fear that it is simply going to be ignored. You had said on a talkpage somewhere that you were intending to comment at some point. I know that there is a lot of material to sort through to really understand what is going on, but if you could take the time to comment, I would be very appreciative. thanks. maxsch (talk) 21:04, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

I know it's not a priority of yours, but in case the only thing stopping you is not knowing where you should start, you could just expand on my comments in the talk page. I still can't believe I wrote all that; a lot of the observations I listed have no citations, so you could back me up on some of them. Naturally, I'd rather you said something new rather than just vouch for me. Anyway, hope you find the time soon. He's quieted down for now, but I'm sure it'll be back to business as usual after he finishes that judicial appeal or whatever it is he said he's busy, so I really don't want to see the RFC gone. --Migs (talk) 05:06, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
Thank you very much for the comments. I know that Floro respects your opinion, so hopefully he will take more note of your words than he has of mine. best maxsch (talk) 14:45, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

AFC suggestion relating to Orchids

This was posted on my talk page, but it looks more up your alley. --EncycloPetey (talk) 16:13, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, I see you're part of Wikiproject Plants, and that you are one of the most recently-active participants. In that case, you might be able to help me here: There's an AFC suggestion in one of the archives which has not yet been reviewed. It's on a man who has discovered several species of orchids, but I'm not sure if this establishes notability. I have copied the post onto one of my sandboxes; would you please look it over for me, and give your feedback? Thanks!!! Mess around with the guy in shades all you like - don't mess around with the girl in gloves! (talk) 06:22, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, I learned a lot from you, especially, uploading in commons

Hi, I reveal to you a secret. When I saw your pics and userpage, I wanted to upload pics here and in commons but failed miserably. My fault was using a Topico pics I paid since my camera was not so good. But I learened. Now in commons I can easily upload my pics. Further, you taught me on TLDR and copy vio. Now, I use only AFP and Google-NYT before I edit foreign bios-events like Pervez Musharraf. But I made a monopoly of editing their bios, and editors who wanted to add (to great events-bios) would just add minor edits. I am proud of learning from you. On my user page: I read the long policies and rules of Wiki, but I did not stop there; I researched and copied good parts of-from more than 50 user pages of Wiki administrators. I was shocked that the best user pages of administrators here, are like blogs and have no references. So, I wrote my user page, based on a) yours and the b) best parts of user pages of 50 admins. I did not write it like an article nor a blog, but I tried my best parts. I do not delete-revise IP address anonymous corrections-edits of my page, since I had only been vandalized once. I am proud that like your user page, readers-editors are inspired by us, who are we, instead of anonymous editors. I purposely added more than 200 links in my user page, so that I can fairly be accused of COI if I violate one. I am candid and I never hide. Most of my suits are taxpayers' or class suits, which are not personal, and therefore COI does not apply. If I sue my neighbor or brother, that is a case. But if I sue the government or justices who had done nothing to me, except the case, that is a class suit. So, I am not afraid if Max or Cma would research and find that I sued this or that, and I edited this or that. I use Afp and AP-NYT, my edits are solidly impartial and objective.

More importantly, from the time you re-directed my articles on coco oil, I learned on copy vio. Remember my mistake on Rita Milla, I copied a site and used another site. But I survived this due to a kinder editor who re-wrote my copy vios Thriller (viral video). Also, I respect many atheists here, so I am very careful to use God, etc. From the time you and D. Terrier adopted me, I ceased to mention my life and case story, since some might be offended here, who are in our Courts. Remember, I offered you to be my adopter, but I failed to review your contributions and user page, I found you too busy, unlike me, jobless. But, since we have Wikipedia:Tambayan Philippines, I painfully contributed to our articles, so that Filipino editors would not hate me, for contributing to only foreign and notable bios and events.
[8]. If you peruse these great bios and articles of others I expanded, you will find that I made monopoly of contributions just letting other editors to prune or trim by add-minor links. Who does not want his name in George Bush or Pope Benedict XVI? With these experiences, I edit Philippine-related articles with same pattern as these great foreign bio and events articles, taking a cue from best admins and editors worldwide.
It is just sad that I am confronted here by just one Filipino editor/s who stalk/s on me. But I ignore that and just work like you. I am not at liberty to reveal here what is the personal gap between me and Cma/Max. I and Cma are Ateneo de Manila alumni and student, respectively. Yes, our school and our country do have Manuals of Disciplines and Civil Codes (Arts. 19-21), etc. which are more simple than Wiki rules and policies. Cma is a blogger and so I am. I personally know him, he does not know me. I lived for many many years in his own backyard in Davao City, in Valencia, Dumaguete, and Negros Oriental. In Max place of edit, yes, I lived in Mumbai for 3 years and I was in Mumbai Mirror front page on April 7, 2006.
[9]Max insulted my adopting parent and even made threats of vendetta[10]. Imagine, Max even editor D. Terrier, to the extent making it appear that Terrier is no longer adopting. But I my Wiki philosophy is to ignore and just WORK. I copied this from you: "Rkitko gets ready for work." I never wanted to be judgmental or confrontational. I never edit or revert another Wiki editors' work, I am so lazy to do that.

I will have time later to submit evidence on this and I will perhaps reveal to you the truth on why only 2 editors are against me. Wikipedia is composed of thousands of admins and editors - but the critical fact is: one Filipino editor plus a Mumbai editor do desire to block me. This is a sad day not only for Wiki but for all editors and administrators, a critical fact which requires no evidence. Apology, Sir, for too long message, please, I need to. --Florentino floro (talk) 09:05, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi, request for examination of fact and error

May I please ask your time on this serious matter. I received a message thusly: "Floro, your behavior is becoming increasingly erratic and troubling. You blame others for mistakes that you yourself made, and refuse to apologize when confronted by it. This is not acceptable. TheCoffee (talk) 12:26, 23 August 2008 (UTC)"

Forthwith I replied that contrary to facts supported by links and history tab, it was Max and not I who made the error on 1864 to 1870 change of above sea level figure, which matter is minor, yet, I asked clarification from Max. I fully explained to administrator TheCoffee via my message of "Reply, Request for Clarification on Fact of editing and Review of Comparative edits to determine the error."[11] and [12]. With utter good faith, assume good faith, I had tried to pacify Max and Cma but it reached to this, and I am blamed here, towards my blocking. I sincerely believe, that TRUTH will prevail, since all my life, I, The Coffee and Gma or[13]Dominique Gerald Cimafranca are all alumni/students of Ateneo de Manila and we cherish our ideals of justice, fair play and Faith. It is a sad day for Wikipedia, if I would be continually perturbed amid the fact that I tried my best with the help of my parent D. Terrier to avoid all these. I believe in Wikipedia's philosophy of wisdom and ethics. Cheers.--Florentino floro (talk) 13:54, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

Category:Carnivorous plants of Oceania

G'day mate,

Have you noticed me mucking about with your category structures yet? I'm very slowing working to bring our category structure into conformance with the World Geographical Scheme for Recording Plant Distributions. The guys who put that together put a hell of a lot of thought into what is the best, most practical, category structure for recording plants-by-distribution, and botanical databases all over have adopted it, so I can't imagine why we wouldn't adopt it too.

I've now completed Australia and New Zealand, and would be finished with Australasia except for a terminological clash with "Oceania". The WGSRPD doesn't recognise a continent called "Oceania". The vast majority of the plants that Wikipedia has been filing under Oceania belong under either Australasia or the Pacific. I have dispersed the contents of Category:Flora of Oceania to Category:Flora of Australasia and Category:Flora of the Pacific, and have left a message at User talk:Kaarel about nuking the Oceania category, but haven't received a reply yet.

With respect to your hungry critters, I've created Category:Carnivorous plants of Australasia and Category:Carnivorous plants of the Pacific, and will gradually disperse the contents of Category:Carnivorous plants of Oceania to them, if you don't object to my doing so. For now, I've made them subcategories of your Oceania category, but ultimately I would like to nuke the latter.

Any comments?

Madhuca longifolia

Hi! I have added more text from the web sites of India and photos (my own) since the tree is native to India. I was recently in the tribal areas of Chattisgarh in India and was impressed with the usefulness of this tree to the tribals. I have also added additional categories. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nvvchar (talkcontribs) 10:59, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:DrDanielWFox.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? howcheng {chat} 05:18, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
