COI question

edit

Hello, Roachetta. Do you work for West Texas A&M University? If so, you may want to read WP:Conflict of interest. Corky | Chat? 22:15, 6 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi Corky, I do and I have. Did I cross the line somehow? I don't think that I did but if so I would like to know. Roachetta (talk) 16:39, 28 April 2015 (UTC)RoachettaReply

I fine with the vertical logo, but at least make it transparent of a vector image. Obviously you work for the Marketing Dept. there, you can get a good quality image. The you have listed now is .jpg image, which are not good images. Corky | Chat? 22:50, 7 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

University seals

edit

If you don't like the use of university seals, nominate them for deletion, so we can see what the community thinks. But we are not beholden to the whims of the universities or their staff. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 08:46, 9 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

This has nothing to do with me liking or disliking anything. I do work for the University but I haven't violated the conflict of interest. I am not subjecting you to the whims of a biased opinion. The community's opinion that using this seal is OK doesn't make it correct. The seal is not an an accurate logo representation for the University and I tried to provide an image that is. Corky said he is fine with the changing to this logo and you say to nominate it for deletion. I will do whatever I need to. If I want to nominate something for deletion does that mean to just post it to the talk page? When does it become OK to delete? Roachetta (talk) 16:58, 28 April 2015 (UTC)RoachettaReply

Managing a conflict of interest

edit

Hello, Roachetta. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article West Texas A&M University, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies. Note that Wikipedia's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations.

Please note that it is also Wikimedia foundation policy that you must declare if you are paid for your editing.
