Hi, please don't recreate deleted articles as you did with Arrishtotolo Suleymanokh "Harry S." Fulmonovich. You might want to look at Wikipedia's guidelines on articles on individuals. I'm afraid your article does not meet these criteria. Thanks, Gwernol 04:51, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

Message on my Talk Page

edit

Hi Rob, sorry for the rather abrupt message above, and thanks for taking the time to write and explain. The reason I originally nominated your article Arrishtotolo Suleymanokh "Harry S." Fulmonovich for deletion was that I believed it was an article about a real person - hence my reference to the WP:BIO guideline. I hadn't realized from the text of the article that it was about a fictional character from the Archie comics universe.

As you suggested, it would be a good idea to make this clear at the start of any article you write. In general its good style to clearly state the context of an article in the opening paragraph of each article. See the manual of style for more information.

Now the less good news. Its not clear to me what the status of a proposed character like Harry would be. The cannonical Archie characters like Archie Andrews and Betty Cooper are clearly notable in their own right and have articles in Wikipedia. However you should look at Wikipedia's guidelines on what Wikipedia is not and in particular the prohibition on original research which is one of the core principles of Wikipedia. It seems to me that a proposed character might well fall into the category of original research, in which case your article is unlikely to make it in.

Please understand that this is not a judgement on the quality of your work. Your creations deserve a place on the web, it just may not be on Wikipedia. You should get a second opinion on this though, because a different editor may take a different view. In particular one of the more experienced admins may be able to give you a better idea if your proposed articles falls under original research or not.

I hope this is of some help. Please leave me another message if I can help you further. Best, Gwernol 14:20, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

Saranda Yates

edit

Your article about Saranda Yates Jones should be more specific (It seems falls more into the original research category). Please check the discussion page. As the creator of the article, I think you should be more clear about the character. Although you made your own website dedicated to the character, I think it would be better if you change the tone and the words into Wikipedia so it won't look as you copied the whole thing from the website. The character is likely not a major Archie character, so I suggest to be put into minor page.

Thanks for uploading Image:HarryHd01.JPG. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. I added a copyright tag to this logo so it won't be deleted. In the future you will want to add it to all television logos that are uploaded.

I also would like to commend you on the various Portland TV station edits you made. I have been working on updating most of those articles myself and I welcome your help. Samuel 19:55, 4 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:WMPXlogo1998.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:WMPXlogo1998.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 20:31, 3 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

WGME-TV

edit

Concerning your edits to WGME-TV: Lists of people must meet the criteria listed at WP:LISTPEOPLE. Just because a station lists its employees doesn't mean Wikipedia needs to as well, and other station articles needing similar cleanup doesn't mean this one doesn't need to be cleaned up, because whenever it's actually discussed on a station article, the end result is the same; the names that don't meet WP:LISTPEOPLE are removed. See here, here, and here for previous discussions about this. The content you added was unsourced, which is another reason I removed it. When content like this is added, it needs a reliable source, and not one from it's primary like the Meet the Team on the Station's website. Third-party sources would be needed for something like this. YouTube is not a reliable source, so that cannot be added as a source. Wikipedia is also not a directory or TV guide, which ever you would prefer to call it. Thanks, Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 03:16, 9 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. The Pan-Domari Alphabet

edit

Recently, I came up with a new orthography for Domari using the Latin/Roman alphabet—the Pan-Domari Alphabet (ʾAlefu-Bêþah Domari). The PAD is based on standard English transliteration systems for Middle Eastern languages, but with accented letters replacing the usual digraphs.

The Pan-Domari Alphabet consists of these letters: ʾ ʾalefu /ʔ/ A a a /ɑ/ Â â â /aː/ B b be /b/ C c ce (used only in foreign unassimilated loans) Ĉ ĉ ĉe /t͡ʃ/ D d de /d̪/ Ḍ ḍ ḍe /d̪ˤ/ Ð ð ðe /ð/ E e e /ɛ/ Ê ê ê /eː/ F f fe /f/~/ɸ/ G g ge /ɡ/~/ɢ/ Ĝ ĝ ĝe /ɣ/~/ʁ/ H h he /h/ Ḥ ḥ ḥe /ħ/ I i i /ɪ/ Î î î /iː/ J j je (used only in foreign unassimilated loans) Ĵ ĵ ĵe /d͡ʒ/ K k ke /k/ L l le /l̪/ M m me /m/~/ɱ/ N n ne /n̪/~/ɲ/~/ŋ/ ʿ ʿayenu /ʕ/ O o o /ɔ/ Ô ô ô /oː/ P p pe /p/ Q q qe /q/ R r re /ɾ/~/r/ S s se /s/ Ṣ ṣ ṣe /sˤ/ Ŝ ŝ ŝe /ʃ/ T t te /t̪/ Ṭ ṭ ṭe /t̪ˤ/ Þ þ þe /θ/ U u u /ʊ/ Û û û /uː/ V v ve /v/~/β/ W w we /w/ X x xe /x/~/χ/ Y y ye /j/ Z z ze /z/ Ẓ ẓ ẓe /zˤ/ Ẑ ẑ ẑe /ʒ/ Ǝ ǝ ŝǝwaʾ /ɜ/~/əː/

The names for the vowels are simply the vowel sounds themselves, while those for the consonants are formed with -e /-ɛ/; those for <ʾ ʿ ǝ> derive from Hebrew. The letters in the PAD system are collated according to the table above.

We'll need locale data for Domari (numerical digits, day/time formatting, month names, day names, ...).
