Welcome!

Welcome to Wikipedia!

I hope you like this place — I sure do — and want to stay. Before getting too in-depth, you may want to read about the Five pillars of Wikipedia and simplified ruleset. If you need help on how to title new articles check out the naming conventions, and for help on formatting the pages visit the manual of style. If you need help look at Wikipedia:Help and the FAQ , plus if you can't find your answer there, check the Village Pump (for Wikipedia related questions) or the Reference Desk (for general questions)! There's still more help at the Tutorial and Policy Library. Plus, don't forget to visit the Community Portal. And if you have any more questions after that, feel free to post them on my user talk page or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will be by to help you shortly.

Additional tips

edit

Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the 'pedia!

  • If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you.
  • You can sign your name followed by a datestamp using four tildes (~). You should do this after all your posts on talk pages.
  • You may want to add yourself to the new user log.
  • If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.
  • If you're still entirely confused, or would like to get a better grasp of your wikipedia skills, and you have an IRC client (or don't mind getting one), check out the Bootcamp. It's not what it sounds like, but it is fun and can help you with your editing skills.
  • If you're bored and want to find something to do, try the Random page button in the sidebar, or check out the Open Task message in the Community Portal.

You can help improve the articles listed below! This list updates frequently, so check back here for more tasks to try. (See Wikipedia:Maintenance or the Task Center for further information.)

Want to clean up and edit the Robert Bateman section

edit

Want to clean up and edit the Robert Bateman section? The No Gun Ri page is unprotected. Travb (talk) 09:53, 15 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I welcome active participation in the article. you are the most qualified person to write the article. If you have a problem using your real name, please create another account, no one will be the wiser, and I believe this is okay to do. Travb (talk) 11:25, 15 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

TravB: Oops, I'm not logged in, but that's sort of moot on "my" own page. Bottom line up front: I'd never edit anonymously. It just wouldn't be right. I'm too well known outside of wikipedia to feel that it would be right to put forward my opinions about anything "anonymously", not the least because somebody might someday call me on it as being intellectually duplicitous.

Best,

          Bob Bateman

Please take a more active role in the article

Your contribution to the article can only be seen if you click the edit button. And erase the <!-- --> I was checking the book on Google.com/print and I could not find the referenced event you mentioned.

Do you know of any white American soldiers who, in your opinion, committed war crimes during the Korean War? Travb (talk) 01:52, 16 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Funny.

edit

I had a feeling that I'd find a "... has edited Wikipedia as (name)" on your article talk page :)

Your User_talk page formatting is a bit broken, with a number of comments being effectively invisible, BTW.

Funny exchange shown on Wired.com. It's always good to see people, especially subject-matter experts, taking a proactive role in the media.

Cheers, Adrian~enwiki (talk) 2007-04-26 18:02Z

P.S. I've fiddled with your talk page formatting a little to fix the invisible-comment breakage introduced by a user's previous post. No text has been altered or deleted.

Robert Bateman (historian)

edit

I decided that it would be inappropriate to delete the article speedily, as notability was asserted, but I've listed it for deletion on your behalf at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Robert Bateman (historian). Regards, BencherliteTalk 19:46, 17 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
