piano music
Thank you for quality articles around music, especially for piano, and its makers, such as Nikolai Kapustin as your first edit in 2005, Steven Osborne (pianist), Naji Hakim, for reverting vandalism, for "I try to contribute civilly always." - Robert, pianist, you are an awesome Wikipedian!

Administrators will no longer be autopatrolled
A recently closed Request for Comment (RFC) reached consensus to remove Autopatrolled from the administrator user group. You may, similarly as with Edit Filter Manager, choose to self-assign this permission to yourself. This will be implemented the week of December 13th, but if you wish to self-assign you may do so now. To find out when the change has gone live or if you have any questions please visit the Administrator's Noticeboard. 20:06, 7 December 2021 (UTC)
How we will see unregistered users
Hi!
You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.
When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.
Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.
If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.
We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.
Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

Orphaned non-free Messiaen images
Thanks for uploading File:Messiaen Instants défunts bar 1.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:53, 2 February 2022 (UTC)

New administrator activity requirement
The administrator policy has been updated with new activity requirements following a successful Request for Comment.
Beginning January 1, 2023, administrators who meet one or both of the following criteria may be desysopped for inactivity if they have:
- Made neither edits nor administrative actions for at least a 12-month period OR
- Made fewer than 100 edits over a 60-month period
Administrators at risk for being desysopped under these criteria will continue to be notified ahead of time. Thank you for your continued work.

Claire/Louise Delbos
Hi,
I'd like to let you know that according to the Hill-Simeone book, Louise Delbos didn't start being known as Claire until after her marriage to Olivier Messiaen.
Do let me know what works when we refer to her in the latter's article.
Also, please inform me if you can respond to my query in that article's talk page.
Have a great weekend,
Please check!
Hi Robert: Just a plea to please check when you "rescue named refs" to make sure that whoever caused the problem didn't otherwise vandalise the article! You fixed the reference in Arctic tern today, but failed to reverse the vandalism the anon IP had done in the same edit that s/he had screwed up the ref. Someone else checking to see what you'd done might not always investigate further (as I did) and discovered the other vandalism. Thanks! MeegsC (talk) 13:59, 22 September 2022 (UTC)
- TBH, it didn't look like vandalism, I thought it might have been good faith. But seeing your characterisation of it made me look again, and I think there was something you missed. :-) We got there in the end. RobertG ♬ talk 14:10, 22 September 2022 (UTC)

witold lutosławski
hello, RobertG! i had a quick question regarding this article and the associated blurb. the blurb and article lead both link to the article on russian formalism, which appears to cover a topic of literary criticism. would a link to "formalism (music)" be more appropriate? the latter links back to the featured article, so i assume it is more relevant. it is also linked near the end of the article body. dying (talk) 10:16, 19 January 2023 (UTC)

Thank you, very gratifying. I feel bound to point out, though, it has already been on the main page (Wikipedia:Today's featured article/November 6, 2005), and it certainly used to be policy that once an article had been TFA on the main page it could not be so again. Witold Lutosławski scheduled for TFA
This is to let you know that the Witold Lutosławski article has been scheduled as today's featured article for January 25, 2023. Please check the article needs no amendments. If you're interested in editing the main page blurb, you're welcome to do so at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/January 25, 2023, but note that a coordinator will trim the lead to around 1000 characters anyway, so you aren't obliged to do so. If you wish to make comments on other matters concerning the scheduling of this article, you can do so at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/January 2023.
Also thanks to Z1720.
I suggest that you watchlist Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors from the day before this appears on Main Page. Thanks and congratulations Jimfbleak - talk to me? 13:56, 15 December 2022 (UTC)
Thank you today for the article, introduced (in 2005): "This is an article on a major 20th century classical composer, which seems comprehensive to me. It's a partial self-nom; I carried out a significant rewrite in May, since when it has undergone peer review which resulted in several improvements."! -- — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gerda Arendt (talk • contribs) 07:47, 25 January 2023 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Cemeteries in Sierra Leone
A tag has been placed on Category:Cemeteries in Sierra Leone indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 08:04, 30 December 2023 (UTC)
