There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing. Additionally, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for your contributions to Wikipedia, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block. To do so, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason for thinking that the block was an error, and publish the page.

Cullen328 Let's discuss it 18:08, 30 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi. New to Wikipedia. Just tried to appeal my blocking, but this page isn't working. https://utrs.wmflabs.org/ - I get this error when submitting if this helps:

Notice: Undefined variable: query in /usr/utrs/production/public_html/src/appealObject.php on line 882

Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to a member function execute() on null in /usr/utrs/production/public_html/src/appealObject.php:882 Stack trace: #0 /usr/utrs/production/public_html/index.php(75): Appeal::noSpamCheck('81.110.144.169') #1 {main} thrown in /usr/utrs/production/public_html/src/appealObject.php on line 882

Anyway, i'm here for the right reasons so please let me back in. I think I can understand why I've been blocked. I started by editing the page of a company I work with (LeftLion) and has had citation requests on it since November 2016, which I was trying to help with. The page was really out of date. I guess my username was naive, but it was because I was genuinely trying to improve Wikipedia.

Please can you compare the edits between the last one I made and the one Cullen328 hasjust reverted it back to? Our magazine has had 2 NEW EDITORS over the 4 YEARS since the wikipedia page was last updated. It really needs an update - which was what I was trying to do before I was blocked.

You guys must be really busy and not get time to read the edits i've spent the last 3 hours making. But please can someone try?

If you are unblocked, what articles do you intend to edit?

I love wikipedia and i'd genuinely like to make a contribution here.

I would like to edit the LeftLion page to make it accurate. Please can you assess the last edit I made before it was reverted back? If there's anything you think is too promotional then i'm happy to have it edited. Would just like the information on there to be accurate.

I'd also like to create some new pages because there are a fair few big things going on in the Midlands of the UK which i'd like to get on wikipedia. I'd just spent over an hour creating a new page for 'I'm Not From London' - which isn't a vested interest. They should just be on wikipedia. Can you have a look for that page as I really hope all the work has not not been lost because of my block.

Why do you think there is a block currently affecting you? If you believe it's in error, tell us how.

I'm not sure whether you'd class it as error, but basically I think your admin Cullen328 has seen my username (and possibly my email address) and is probably really busy and not had time to actually look at what I was trying to do and the edits I made.

Please let me back in and please revert the changes I made back to what they were. I made all those pages better and more accurate.

Is there anything else you would like us to consider when reviewing your block?

I love wikipedia. I'm here for the right reasons.

It's genuinely a bit heartbreaking to spend a few hours trying to make this place better and represent the things we know better (and factually correct) and then just get booted out of my account.

PPS - I've tried reading the userguides too and I hope i've gone about this the right way. Anyway, I guess i'll check back in a day or two and see if you can give me access to the account again.

BIG LOVE TO WIKIPEDIA!!! X

I did read your edits, which were promotional and mostly unreferenced. When you did add references, they were to your own website. This is typical of editors with a conflict of interest, and this type of editing is not acceptable. Wikipedia does not care in the slightest what LeftLion publishes about itself. The article must summarize what reliable sources independent of LeftLion say about it, such as the BBC. You need to create a new account, comply with Wikipedia's paid editing disclosure, and limit yourself to requesting edits at the article's talk page. Start with the staff changes. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 19:07, 30 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Aw mate. I'm really sorry you feel that way. I'm going to try and make some of those edits again, but i'll be cautious of not trying o incur your wrath for promotion and advertising. Ideally i'd really like to try and get rid of those citation requests from at the top of the page, which was why I probably added too many links that you deem as promotional.

Cullen328 - You seem to have banned my home and office IP completely from editing Wikipedia now? Can we discuss this? Seems quite severe. I'm happy to take your advice and try to learn more about how you'd like this done. But I was trying to reference other sources too.

I'm still learning how all this works. I'm genuinely trying tho. Wikipedia is lacking knowledge I have about the area I live in (East Midlands, Nottingham UK) and I was genuinely going to try and update some stuff on here for the greater good. I started with the LeftLion page as it's something I know lots about, but clearly I made some mistakes. Can someone let me know if you'll ever unblock my IP address and, if possible, reinstate this account? Or is this ban permanent and i'm just kicked out of Wikipedia for good?
