That's unfortunate. Can you recommend any changes I could make to make this acceptable?

Hi - thanks for your recent edit, adding infoboxes into the article. There seems to be a problem with the image which is now duplicated. Is this a glitch in the templates themselves? Daemonickangaroo2018 (talk) 05:30, 25 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi Daemonickangaroo2018,
I think there may be a glitch in the template, because I certainly didn't specify the image parameter twice in module2.
I'll take a look at it again; maybe switch around modules1 & 2, and see what happens. Fortunately I have a background in IT!

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Edwin Octavius Tregelles, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Falmouth. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Hull F.C. to Hull FC

edit

The article is clearly Hull F.C., and that also make grammatic sense. Is there any reson I shouldn't revert your changes? Doctorhawkes (talk) 04:26, 23 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

This is crazy. You've changed hundreds when it's plain to see by your links you know it's wrong. I'm happy to wait a while for you to correct, but then I'll mass revert. Doctorhawkes (talk) 04:32, 23 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi Doctorhawkes
Looked at in isolation it does seem like a crazy & unnecessary change, however, I'm working on a bigger piece to bring the 'List of Hull F.C. players' article up to date (last updated in 2018), and make it consistent with the corresponding lists for the likes of Featherstone, Wakefield, Leeds, St Helens etc, and introduce a Heritage No column. Since 2018 there have been many changes to their squad, with a high turnover of players.
In so doing, working through each entry for Hull players I noticed an inconsistency when referring to Hull F.C., varying between [[Hull F.C.]], or [[Hull F.C.|Hull FC]] or [[Hull FC]], with many articles flip-flopping between these refs within the same article. So my intention is picking one, and being consistent - but it doesn't really matter which one - I chose Hull FC. If you feel that Hull F.C. is better then go ahead, I won't be put out.
I hope this helps
best regards Robinson Drinkald (talk) 08:53, 23 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
It's not so much that I find Hull F.C. better (though it's obviously grammatically correct and appears on their logo), it's that the place to discuss that would be at the Hull F.C. article. Doctorhawkes (talk) 10:58, 23 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Good point, fair enough. I'll cease making those changes & just stick to the Heritage No. addition, and any other valid corrections. Robinson Drinkald (talk) 11:53, 23 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi, could I ask that you don't add heritage numbers to player articles either? I have been removing these as, while they are interesting, they add a lot of clutter to the article lead (as briefly discussed on the RL talk page here). Don't get me wrong, I think it's great you are working on adding them to List of Hull F.C. players, that's a good place to include them. But adding them to every individual player article as well is excessive, in my opinion. J Mo 101 (talk) 09:11, 24 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
J Mo,
That's a very fair point, so I'll follow your advice. I had (mistakenly) understood that it was a thing to add.
Do you have any issues with me adding a column to the List of... article to include it? (to make Hull FC consistent with the other List of articles etc.) Robinson Drinkald (talk) 10:59, 25 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Great work being so cooperative, mate.Doctorhawkes (talk) 12:41, 25 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
No problem.
Just to pick up on J Mo 101's point concerning Heritage No. in the player articles, is there an option to include Heritage No. in the infobox? Just a thought. If so, then it would need to be by club Robinson Drinkald (talk) 10:01, 26 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi. When you add new information to a Wikipedia article, including in an infobox, please cite your source(s). See WP:V for more information. Also, infoboxes are highly contententous (and have been since the dawn of Wikipedia). Please do not add one to an existing article without first opening a discussion on the Talk page to see if there is a consensus to do so. edit

Hi Robinson Drinkald! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 22:51, 1 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
