Image tagging and uploading to the Commons
editGreetings. You are quite correct: it's a good idea to use the most specific tag. Here's why: once we start moving images to the Commons, a bot might move all the {{PD-USGov-NASA}} images over and include Category:NASA images to those. If a NASA image is just tagged {{PD}}, it won't get the category. And someone browsing through all the NASA images won't see it.
Also, it is best to upload images to the Commons, but the Commons is a new thing. We're still sorting out how it will be organized. So we aren't directing people to use it exclusively yet. It'll get there. Also, fair-use images don't get uploaded to the Commons; they have to go to the English Wikipedia only. Eventually all the free-license images on Wikipedia will get moved to the Commons automatically.
Thanks for your interest! And merry Christmas Eve! – Quadell (talk) (help) 13:53, Dec 24, 2004 (UTC)
What are you doing?
editWho are you and what are you doing? I saw you add a geo-stub message to Vlorë and Gjirokastër, which while small, I don't think qualifie as stubs. Dori | Talk 23:05, Jan 29, 2005 (UTC)
Hi RoboAction, this doesn't appear to have been actioned in a little while. After a week we are archiving inactive requests, but I figured I'd give you a chance to respond! I do appreciate you placing these on peer review, really the first step towards a featured article! Good luck with this :-) Ta bu shi da yu 00:25, 7 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- I have added some comments myself. I'll give you a while longer to see these :-) - Ta bu shi da yu 01:18, 7 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Gmail
editYep. I still have Gmail invites. No one replied since I put the message there. Just let me know what email addresses to send them to. I assume by a pair you mean two. And it looks like I need seperate adresses to do so. Mgm|(talk) 08:18, Feb 15, 2005 (UTC)
I haven't received it yet, but I did receive previous messages through that system. Try sending it to <my full Wikipedia username>@gmail.com directly. Mgm|(talk) 20:24, Feb 16, 2005 (UTC)
Massacre article
editHi. The "article" as it stands is deletable as an extremely short article with no content. I'm aware of the tragedy. It's worth an article, but this sure ain't it. It's up to the original poster to make something real out of it in the first place. Wikilove! - Lucky 6.9 04:52, 22 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Make that as the article stood. Looks like a real article now. Best, Lucky 6.9 04:53, 22 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:NovyMost.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:NovyMost.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Replaceable fair use Image:Tweel_promo.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Tweel_promo.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use media which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 13:13, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Firestone and Ford tire controversy
editI have nominated Firestone and Ford tire controversy, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Firestone and Ford tire controversy. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Your account will be renamed
editHello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called RoboAction. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name RoboAction~enwiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name. If you think you might own all of the accounts with this name and this message is in error, please visit Special:MergeAccount to check and attach all of your accounts to prevent them from being renamed.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
