How can I get rid of the comments at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warm_Showers

Roger Gravel (talk) 14:18, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi Roger, I have removed the notice from the article Warm Showers, as I believe the bot was mistaken, and said so on the article's talk page (which is at Talk:Warm Showers). DuncanHill (talk) 14:23, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I've also put the article into an appropriate category (Category:Cycling organisations), and marked it as a "stub" (short article), this will help other editors to find it. It would be good if you could add some information shewing how the organisation is "notable", things like press coverage can help for this. Do have a read through the links in the "welcome box" above - Wikipedia can be rather confusing and frustrating at first, and I found the welcome box really useful when I started. Please also feel free to ask me for help - I will try my best! DuncanHill (talk) 14:28, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello Duncan.

Thank you for helping me with : 1

The *bot* was not necessarily mistaking and the original page was Warm Showers List. I had effectively used the material from warmshowers.org because it was easier for me.

I am trying to do what the 4 others did in :

Specialized Networks Lesbian and Gay Hospitality Exchange International Pasporta Servo -- for Esperanto speakers WWOOF -- "Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms", help on the property is exchanged for food, accommodation, education and cultural interaction. Homeshare International [3] -- charity organisation providing exchange of housing for help in the home at 2.

Regards, Roger Gravel (talk) 14:36, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

By the way, the easiest way to link to articles on Wikipedia is to type Article name here, so that Warm Showers shows up as Warm Showers. DuncanHill (talk) 14:39, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ok Duncan. Next time I'll say Warm Showers and Warm Showers List. Regards,

May I just EDIT instead of EMPTY my TALK page?

Hello RT,

What is this:

"create a redirect to a different page with #REDIRECT article instead of making it twice. "

In tthe pursuit of impartiality ...

edit

Hello Duncan,

Thank you for the "stub" mention on the article. I hope it attracts others to edit the article.

Because I don't want to be taxed of conflict of interest it is hard for me to add information showing how the organisation is "notable",

Yes I have some press coverage. And yes a lot webpages link to our website; but what is impartiality ?

I see that I have a lot of work if I need to read all the links in the "welcome box"; but I can't confirm I have the patience.

Roger Gravel (talk) 15:26, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think it might be worth you going to the Cycling Wikiproject. A Wikiproject is where editors with similar interests can help improve articles on a subject. I expect that if you ask the other editors there for help and suggestions they will help - unfortunately I don't know very much about cycle touring, so they would be better placed than me to advise on the sort of references the article needs. "Impartiality" really just means presenting the facts in a neutral way - saying "Warm Showers is a wonderful community of kind and helpful people" wouldn't be impartial even though it may well be true! DuncanHill (talk) 15:35, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Duncan,

Why is there a Cycling Wikiproject and a 3?

Roger Gravel (talk) 15:50, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

The Cycling Wikiproject is part of Wikipedia, the Bicycling Wiki is seperate from Wikipedia, even though it uses the same software and can be edited by anyone, just like Wikipedia. DuncanHill (talk) 15:53, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Looks like you got hit by a false positive for copyright violation by a bot. That's a shame... sorry it happened. Looking around the various issues you're having, I'll say that Wikipedia's policies and processes take a little getting used to. It's much easier to edit at existing articles than to start new ones... I recommend you do some of the former to help settle in! Cheers, --Dweller (talk) 12:17, 21 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Incidentally, while I think you've provided enough material to avoid a "speedy deletion" on grounds of notability, I wouldn't be surprised if the article were listed at a deletion debate, as it's not currently really clearly demonstrating that it passes our notability criteria for organisations. Take a look at WP:CORP and then see what you can do to develop the article further. --Dweller (talk) 12:20, 21 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Warm Showers

edit

Another editor has added the "prod" template to the article Warm Showers, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the prod template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Thank you !

I'll take a look readily. Roger Gravel (talk)

AfD nomination of Warm Showers

edit

An editor has nominated Warm Showers, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Warm Showers and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 17:15, 26 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Instead of nominating the article for deletion can you please help me make it a candidate for acceptation ?

regards Roger Gravel (talk) 17:25, 26 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
