I think it's funny that an article that so many people deem non-notable is notable for having so much argument about it. Should there be a wiki about the debate for its inculsion? ;)

Probably. I myself am surprised at the volume of debate.

This debate and its outcome was... unfortunate. Assuming you still are interested, may I suggest creating an article in your user space, and tracking down a whack of sources to back up specific events? You should have little trouble finding a good selection from "mainstream" press. Some were helpfully provided in the AfD itself! When ready, I suggest a move to main space. It might go to AfD again, but I seriously doubt the outcome will be the same in that case. If there was anything in the original article you need, you can ask the deleting admin. I'm too new to figure out how to do all this stuff. Can you just post the original article on my user page right below your message? I'll work on it from there (actually, on a copy saved to disk, of course), thus avoiding the delete/restore/delete/restore stuff until it is fully ready. Do not change the text of your comments. WP:TALK#Behavior that is unacceptable states

**Don't change your text: Obviously you can edit or delete your own words, while you are still composing the initial text, but afterwards, you should not do so, as this will put others' comments in a different context. Even if no one has replied, someone may still have read what you have written — so think before you speak! If you wish to amend your statement, use strike-through or a place holder to show it is a retrospective alteration. Strike-through is typed <s>like this</s> and ends up like this.

I noted the comment you made about not speculating about Shawn Hornbeck. I wanted to downplay the speculation about Stockholm syndrome as it could negatively affect his biography. I considered whether the meaning or interpretation of your statement would be altered by such a change and decided it wouldn't have. I had no problem with the comment... and I understand why you did it, it makes sense. The practice however of totally deleting the comment text is bad business. Well, let me just say this: Henry Kissinger opened up China to the U.S., George H. W. Bush was the first U.S. emissary to the PRC and his son Neil Bush has worked directly for the son of former Chinese president Jiang Zemin. George H. W. Bush's former National Security Advisor Brent Scowcroft has worked for Kissinger at Kissinger and Associates. Bill Clinton's Energy Secretary at the time of the Cox Report's release until Clinton left office was Bill Richardson who went to work for Kissinger afterwards before running for governor of New Mexico where Los Alamos National Laboratory and our nuclear weapons secrets are located. Kissinger and Associates eventually led to Kissinger McLarty Associates, a joint venture between Kissinger and Bill Clinton's childhood friend and first White House chief of staff Mack McLarty. Many of these people have direct financial interests in the PRC and have had financial interests there for 30+ years. Put two and two together and what do you get? By the way, these connections are just the beginning. I can go on for an hour, but don't have the time. One of the most peculiar connections I found was a man named David Rothkopf. He was money man John Huang's direct supervisor at the Commerce Department. Shortly after Huang hit the scandal sheets, Rothkopf left the Commerce Department to go to work for... Yup, Kissinger. Huang and Rothkopf's supervisor was a man named Charles Meissner. He died in a plane crash in Croatia with Commerce Secretary Ron Brown.

My objection is it's intrusive and highly inaccurate, and editors are entitled to make article-by-article decisions what their "citation-needed" policies will be. Now all of them, or virtually all of them, are labeled "February 2007". In addition, the whole thing involved an administrative override of an earlier community decision to do away with the category out of which the bot operates. March Madness 2017

G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:

• tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
• updating the project's currently listed A-class articles to ensure their ongoing compliance with the listed criteria
• creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now.

2017 Military Historian of the Year and Newcomer of the Year nominations and voting

As we approach the end of the year, the Military History project is looking to recognise editors who have made a real difference. Each year we do this by bestowing two awards: the Military Historian of the Year and the Military History Newcomer of the Year. The co-ordinators invite all project members to get involved by nominating any editor they feel merits recognition for their contributions to the project. Nominations for both awards are open between 00:01 on 2 December 2017 and 23:59 on 15 December 2017. After this, a 14-day voting period will follow commencing at 00:01 on 16 December 2017. User group for Military Historians

Greetings,

"Military history" is one of the most important subjects when speak of sum of all human knowledge. To support contributors interested in the area over various language Wikipedias, we intend to form a user group. It also provides a platform to share the best practices between military historians, and various military related projects on Wikipedias. An initial discussion was has been done between the coordinators and members of WikiProject Military History on English Wikipedia. Now this discussion has been taken to Meta-Wiki. Contributors intrested in the area of military history are requested to share their feedback and give suggestions at Talk:Discussion to incubate a user group for Wikipedia Military Historians.

April 2018 Milhist Backlog Drive

G'day all, please be advised that throughout April 2018 the Military history Wikiproject is running its annual backlog elimination drive. This will focus on several key areas:

• updating the open tasks template on Milhist's task force pages
• creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various lists of missing articles.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the scope of military history will be considered eligible. This year, the Military history project would like to extend a specific welcome to members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red, and we would like to encourage all participants to consider working on helping to improve our coverage of women in the military. This is not the sole focus of the edit-a-thon, though, and there are aspects that hopefully will appeal to pretty much everyone.
