Hi. When assessing articles against the standard quality scale feel free to update the Biography quality rating at the same time as other banners. There are over 758,000 Biography articles at the moment, so sharing the assessments of other projects is always welcome.
As a separate point, when using the {{WPBS}} template on articles about living people please remember to set the |blp=yes parameter to activate the standard blp warning message. Regards. Road Wizard (talk) 18:28, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
Relief of Ladysmith
editHi Ron,
You are one of the few people who have made any comments regarding the article Relief of Ladysmith. I personally think that it should be renamed Battle of Tugela Heights as it is ne of four battles that were fought in order to relieve Ladysmith. Any views?

User talk:Shimal.H
editHi,
concerning User talk:Shimal.H, in my opinion your first warning was way to strong: if a new editor removes one particular sentence, twice, a couple of days apart, while also adding content, that is in no way vandalism ("a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of Wikipedia"). Please assume good faith, and unless you're convinced an editor deliberately wants to mess with our articles or he has ignored several warnings, don't jump straight to a level 3 warning: Start with the lower levels, leave him a welcome message, or just talk to him. I'm fairly certain he didn't really mean to mess with your page either, but just isn't quite sure how this page works yet.
Thanks, Amalthea 21:35, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
South African Wikimedia Chapter
editHi Ron2K. The idea of setting up a local Wikimedia chapter has been discussed by South African Wikipedians (and those associated with other Wikimedia projects) for some time now, and we want to help turn this dream into a reality. There are currently over 25 chapters established around the world, and several more planned and being discussed, but so far, none in Africa. A South African chapter, should it become a reality, would be a continental first. If you're interested in being involved in the creation of a South African Wikimedia Chapter, could you please email me directly :). Thanks and have a great day, Kaydee 68 (talk) 09:37, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
South African Wikimedia Chapter update and mailing list
editHi there. Local Wikipedians have set up a mailing list where we will be discussing the formation of a local Wikimedia Chapter in South Africa. Please join the mailing list at this url https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikimediaza. There is also a page set up on Meta where you can add your name if you're interested to take this idea forward. Check out http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_South_Africa. Thanks Kaydee 68 (talk) 09:22, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
Stellenbosch to bid for Wikimania 2012!
editHi Ron!
The nascent South African Wikimedia chapter has decided to bid to host Wikimania in Stellenbosch, South Africa in 2012. This would be the first Wikimania in South Africa, and would be a great advertisement for our country. Please take a look at meta:Wikimania_2012/Bids/Stellenbosch. If you can add to the discussion, please do. If you feel that you are able to do anything to help, please join the Wikimedia South Africa mailing list and let us know. Even simple messages of support are valued!
Best regards,
Velvet Sky
editI would apreciate it if you would take a look at the changes I have made to Velvet Sky (airline). I changed most statments to the past tense and also rearranged the history into correct chronological order. Please check if I missed anything. Also take a look at the airports that used to be VS destinations, to be sure I didn't leave any incorrect mentions of VS in them. Roger (talk) 11:20, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Call for Wikipedians in Residence in Africa
editHello,
I hope you are well and thriving!! WikiAfrica has just put out a call for two Wikipedians in Residence. One in Cape Town at WikiAfrica, at the Africa Centre; and the other for WikiAfrica Cameroon in Douala, at doual’art. If you are interested, please contact either Marilyn [marilyn.doualabell doualart.org] for the WikiAfrica Cameroon call or Isla [islahf africacentre.net] for the WikiAfrica position in Cape Town.
If you are not interested in applying, I would be very grateful if you could spread this call far and wide among your networks to ensure that both projects get excellent candidates. Here is the link for the information page: http://www.wikiafrica.net/two-wikipedians-in-residence-for-africa/

Disambiguation link notification for December 12
editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited De Beer's Pass (KwaZulu-Natal), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Free State (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

The article Airlink Flight 8911 has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Non-notable accident. Fails WP:PERSISTENCE; was not operating on a scheduled flight, but a simple ferry flight. No changes to procedures, training or operation.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. The Bushranger One ping only 00:58, 18 January 2014 (UTC)

SADC route numbers
edit
Hi! I saw that you drew the SADC route numbers. In the near future I would like to write an article about the SDAC routes.
As I've noticed, there are many more SADC numbers than there are. Could you draw more numbers, would that be possible?
I could send you the missing numbers. Thank you and best regards, Lidhe. --Lidhe (talk) 08:25, 10 October 2019 (UTC)

Copying licensed material requires attribution
editHi. I see in a recent addition to [[:Visa requirements for New Zealand citizens ]] you included material from a webpage that is available under a compatible Creative Commons Licence. That's okay, but you have to give attribution so that our readers are made aware that you copied the prose rather than wrote it yourself. It's also required under the terms of the license. I've added the attribution for this particular instance. Please make sure that you follow this licensing requirement when copying from compatibly-licensed material in the future. — Diannaa (talk) 23:48, 16 January 2023 (UTC)
