editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Gustav Hamel, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Windsor, Burbage and Tamworth (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

editYour recent editing history at Felixstowe F.5 shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you get reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. - Ahunt (talk) 15:04, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
- I am sorry you feel the need to behave like this Ahunt, note my first edit 12 January was an err and I have not broken the three-revert rule any more than you have.Rstory (talk) 16:00, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
License tagging for File:Koolhoven 100ton flying boat drawing.gif
editThanks for uploading File:Koolhoven 100ton flying boat drawing.gif. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

File copyright problem with File:Hick model double beam engine.jpg
editThank you for uploading File:Hick model double beam engine.jpg. However, it is currently missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Advert for Hick Hargreaves & Co. Ltd.jpg
editThank you for uploading File:Advert for Hick Hargreaves & Co. Ltd.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

B. Hick and Sons
editHi, this is about your change to the subtitle for B. Hick and Sons. The section was somewhat eclectic. I removed material about the former Post Office etc and tried to put together an account of what happened to the business and premises following the Smiths Group sale. I have no particularly fixed ideas what the section should be called but "Ownership changes" didn't cover it for me. It is a bit awkward because the format doesn't follow the standard encyclopedic format of an introductory section followed by history, and instead the article wanders about a bit. I came to this from the Edwards Vacuum page and want to ensure the two tie together neatly.Ed1964 (talk) 21:40, 24 July 2022 (UTC)
- Hi, bear in mind the article has evolved over some length of time including the Ownership changes section that has drawn in other observations that may not be so tightly in frame with the section title. The section about the former Post Office was added more recently and does require some blending I agree, but I doubt should be removed entirely together with some other details that I will restore in some way or other .Rstory (talk) 23:08, 24 July 2022 (UTC)
Might I humbly suggest the article is restructured to begin with a very brief introduction followed by a history section containing subheadings, and then all the other stuff about family and mills using the kit, and other bits of local history etc can go in a series of other sections instead of abusing see also and external links. I am not a purist seeking to push the gallery to Wikimedia but it might all be easier if the gallery was treated as a gallery and not left to disrupt the flow of the main long history section (a few pics alongside exempted of course). Ed1964 (talk) 23:18, 24 July 2022 (UTC)
As far as the Post Office goes I struggled to see any relevance. It has nothing to do with the works site or business named at the top of the article and by the Edwards was just one of a multitude of firms that had carved up hicks product line - they just did the vacuum pumps. Ed1964 (talk) 23:22, 24 July 2022 (UTC)
- The Soho Iron Works gallery has a relationship to the section above, but less so with the Ownership changes section below. The Post Office section was added for some reason the editor believed to be relevant at the time, but I would have to have a closer look at it before offering an opinion either way. It is not an easy task trying to source and jigsaw this together and I think care should be taken not to lose information under 'tidying' or 'simplyfying' once the information is there.
- I will look at the MOS for the sections I restored and revise accordingly - they can be moved to the talk page as an alternative if really necessary.Rstory (talk) 00:23, 25 July 2022 (UTC)
See also section
editHi,
This comment relates to your reversion of the See Also section of B. Hick and Sons. The content is clearly contrary to MOS:SEEALSO - it even included a bunch of prose and citations! I can see that some of the material may form bases for sections after introduction and history, much like the list of mills section but they do not belong en masse in a See also section. That they have sat there inappropriately does not seem especially relevant to me. There is no Statute of Limitations in Wikipedia as far as I am aware.
I am sorry you have chosen to revert instead of engaging in a discussion. As you will have seen from the changes I have made, I have not sought to change the meaning of the page, just to put it in an encyclopedid format with appropriate entry points for others to introduce additional material.
Do you want me, or anybody else, to work on the structure of the page or not?Ed1964 (talk) 22:52, 24 July 2022 (UTC)

editHi,
This relates to your latest reversion on B. Hick and Sons, the third in short order. I am sorry you are interested only in reverting, rather than engaging in discussion. The material was clearly inappropriate and excessive for the section - see WP:EXT. Wikipedia is not your personal link farm. That it has sat there for a long time does not give it squatters rights.
