The draft does a good job of honing in on a particular Chicano travel writer (Griest), and how her work has been particularly influential on the genre of Chicano Literature as a whole. There also appears to be the intention of following the same kind of procedure with other Chicano travel writers which would certainly pave the way for a richer discussion of the topic. Perhaps authors who tend to gravitate towards presenting similar themes could be grouped together in order to help organize thematic analysis, while also giving the editor an easier opportunity to expand the “Major Figures” section. The discussion of Border Literature is intriguing as a means of highlighting how Mexican-American culture clashes with Mexican vs. American culture on the border. In essence, it covers two different “contact zones”: the contact zone which defines the hybridization of Mexican and North American culture, and the contact zone which results from the distinctions between the two cultures. The concept of the “contact zone” might be an appropriate section to add to the Chicano Literature age in order to introduce Border Literature. It would also be interesting to see if Oscar Martinez has any material on the discussion of Chicano influence on Border Literature. In general, the sources used for the material appear to be reputable and free of any overtly one-sided subject matter. The “About Stephanie” source may be questionable in terms of bias since it comes from Griest’s own website, but the information is valuable in terms of basic biographic information, and it may not be harmful to include a little more of information from the page with regards to some of the accolades Griest has earned over time as a voice of the Chicano community. The “Chicano and Latino difference and their history” section should have some additional citations. Otherwise it reads as a list of personal opinions or generalizations.

As an addition to the “Chicano Literature” page, it would be helpful to have the additional content displayed alongside of the sections which are already present on the page. Seeing where the new content will be inserted would provide better assistance in analyzing the “flow” of the information on the page. Using the sections provided in the draft, a possible outline which would allow for easier reading would be as follows: “Chicano and Latino difference and their history,” “Border Literature,” “How Chicano travel Writers are impacting border culture,” “List of other Chicano travel writers,” with additional information on Chicano travel writers (including the information given on Griest) interspersed in their appropriate places. In this way, readers would have a general picture of the context of the genre and its themes as they navigate the more specific information pertaining to the authors.
