Please help me with...
I am an author Scott Baker (writer) trying to add ISBN numbers to my bibliography, but I cannot figure out how to do it. I have a stub template for the article--do I need to change it? Then, am I supposed to copy and change the citation for a credited author ( {{cite book}}
: Empty citation (help)) and just inert it? I tried that and it didn't do anything.Rubberbat (talk) 22:21, 18 December 2020 (UTC) Rubberbat (talk) 22:21, 18 December 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Rubberbat. A couple of things.
- Please take a look at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest because if you are Scott Baker (the subject of Scott Baker (writer)), you shouldn't really be directly editing the article yourself. I've added some more information about this to the thread titled "Conflict of interest editing" (right below this thread). The template I added contains links to relevant Wikipedia pages that you may find helpful.
- If you want to add ISBN numbers for some of the entries in the bibliography section of the article and are not sure how to do so yourself, try posting an edit request at Talk:Scott Baker (writer) and someone should be around to help you sort thing out. You can find out a bit more about how to make an edit request in Wikipedia:Edit requests.
- If you would like to propose any other changes be made to the article, the best thing (once again) would be for you to use the article's talk page to make edit requests. This will give other editors a chance to assess the changes and see whether they are in accordance with relevant Wikipedia policies and guidelines.
- If you have any further questions, you can ask them below, at the Wikipedia Teahouse or at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard and someone will try and help you. Please be patient though since all editors are WP:VOLUNTEERs and it may take a bit of time for someone to answer your question. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:28, 19 December 2020 (UTC)
Conflict of interest editing
editHello, Rubberbat. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Scott Baker (writer), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:01, 19 December 2020 (UTC)
