WikiProject Gastropods
editHi Ruff tuff cream puff,
Welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed that you're improving a lot of articles about gastropods, so I wanted to let you know about Wikipedia:WikiProject Gastropods. A WP:WikiProject is a small group of editors who are working together to improve the encyclopedia. Disambiguation link notification for September 7
editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

- These have both been fixed by someone else already, so you don't need to do anything about this. There are people whose favorite thing seems to be re-pointing these links to the perfect page, and it looks like one of them was right on the bot's heels. I'm not a bug person but I ran into these guys on Flickr where they use the right license. I saw your user name at Echinophthiriidae where I placed this pic. I probably won't upload any more of their pix because I don't know what I'm doing with them. But I figure a bug person might be interested. Smallbones(smalltalk) 02:49, 29 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Your edits to Gastropods
editI think we have a problem. I think you want to give a positive contribution, but in the end your undoing hours of work of other contributors. A small example: you deleted the long list of synonyms in Fissurella; you changed the taxobox in Tegula (gastropod) from an automatic taxobox to the former taxobox. An automatic taxobox takes precedence since it is automatically linked to the species below and to the taxa above. Any changes in the taxonomy can then be performed with little or no work, while otherwise it can be a painstaking job. I know that the older model can still be found in most articles. We don't have a bot to replace it automatically. I have to do it all manually and it is a lot of work. Perhaps you can give a little help here. Furthermore all articles have been made (mostly by a bot) with the same layout. You are changing all that. You are also removing references from the articles. These references are sorely needed and are sometimes hard to find. A better approach would be if you could add more content to the articles. If you have trouble doing this, I can show you where to find much of it. You can also find much information on Wikipedia:WikiProject Gastropods. If you want more information, just ask me. JoJan (talk) 17:19, 17 February 2016 (UTC)
- I am finding millions of articles that look like total garbage. I apologize for messing up your articles. I was trying to clean them up to make them readable to the non-expert. Very few readers need to see a massive list of synonyms, for example. But I won't argue. If you are in charge of gastropods and edits must be done a certain way, I'll go put my effort into some other taxa. Thanks for the heads up. Ruff tuff cream puff (talk) 01:39, 18 February 2016 (UTC)
References in lists of spider genera
editHi, I'm not sure why you have been adding references for individual taxa, as at Oonopidae. I'm sure it was well meant, but the list itself is sourced to the World Spider Catalog (WSC), so there's no need for references for any other entries in the list unless they are not in the current WSC. Also, the lists are updated from time to time from the WSC in a more-or-less automated fashion, and any information not in the WSC, such as extra references, will not survive. Peter coxhead (talk) 14:53, 2 March 2016 (UTC)
- I'm terribly sorry for adding references to Wikipedia articles. Ruff tuff cream puff (talk) 03:38, 3 March 2016 (UTC)
- There is, as you imply, no harm in them – just accept that they will disappear when the list is next updated, since trying to keep them makes lot of amount of work. Peter coxhead (talk) 08:27, 3 March 2016 (UTC)
