Waratahs Rugby players

edit

Hi, I am patrolling some articles you wrote on new players for Waratahs. Many of these do not qualify for WP:NSPORTS as they have not yet made an appearance in a fully professional top level game. One however does have two newspaper articles on them, so that one qualified under WP:GNG. Rather than propose for deletion I will give you a chance to find independent substantial writings to show notability. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 01:42, 7 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Graeme Bartlett:, All but one of these players have represented teams in the National Rugby Championship which is a professional rugby league, henceforth they qualify as notable under WP:NRU. The other has represented Australia Sevens also qualifying him for WP:NRU. I will look to add some more newspaper sources to these pages though. Thanks. Disambiguated rugby player articles

edit

Hi Rugbyfan22. When you create a new article for a rugby player with a disambiguated name, like Sean Farrell (rugby union), you'll need to either add it to a disambiguation page for the name, or put a hatnote on another article for the un-dab'd name, if there is no dab page. If you don't, it makes it tricky for readers to find your article - if I type Sean Farrell into the search box for example, it takes me to the dab page and the rugby player wasn't on it. I've fixed a few of these by keeping an eye on the RU new articles page, but its easier if the article creator can do it. Thanks, and best wishes for creating further new player articles. --Bcp67 (talk) 13:40, 17 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Leon Lyons (rugby union) moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Leon Lyons (rugby union), does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hi Rugbyfans22, greetings. Pls wait until the subject has played on match in Pro 14 before subject is notable in Wikipedia mainaspace. Thank you. Cassiopeia(talk) 03:06, 21 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hi @Cassiopeia:, Chamberlain has represented Hartpury University in the RFU Championship as indicated by a source on the page. This is a professional rugby league as stated by WP:NRU, therefore qualifying him as notable Thanks. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 09:10, 21 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hi Rugbyfan22, Greetings. RFU Championship is second tier in 2019-2020.21:59, 21 June 2020 (UTC)
Hi @Cassiopeia:, the RFU Championship has also been a professional league despite being a second tier league. It is listed on Wikipedia:WikiProject Rugby union/Notability criteria as a professional league. Therefore under WP:NRU guidelines the article is deemed notable.
