Re Death panel
editHi. I noticed a couple of your recent edit summaries. You might benefit from reading WP:TALKPAGE. In the meantime, you can offer your opinion at Talk:Death_panel#Change_redirect. --Evb-wiki (talk) 14:25, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks. After initially backing away slowly and reading it over, I've come back at long last to put in two cents. Ruodyssey (talk) 07:12, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
Re Surfing in Peru proofread
editHi there! Sorry for the delay in answering. I have just proofread the article. I just cut out some repetitions and moved some syntax. I did not do anything about the content, really. To be honest, changes were just a few. It was all very good in general.
Just one question: Are you registered in translatewiki.net? I've seen your user page and deduct you know a bit about programming. I had some doubts about magic words and namespaces, etc.
Cheers,

- Hello! Thanks so much for getting back with me and proofreading the article. It reads much more cleanly now. It was actually my first exercise in translating on Wiki. I had not heard of translatewiki.net before, and it looks interesting so I'll have to check it out. I'm guessing you're referring to the missing translations here, correct? Re: WTF
editSorry for the delayed reply (been busy). I responded here and have a little more free time than usual in the upcoming week to discuss it further. Never thought my Wiki editing would take me to a thorough convo about the word "fuck." Grandma would be proud. :) - SoSaysChappy (talk) 20:57, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
Contested speedy moves
editHi Ruodyssey
Well done in bringing a few groups of categories to WP:CFD/S for speedy renaming. I have just moved a few of them to the queue for processing, but a few more brought objections.
Would you like to take a look at the objections and see what you think? If you add your comments belowthe objections, then we can see where to go from there.
The contested ones are all together at Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Speedy#Add_requests_for_speedy_renaming_here, but down at the bottom below the bolded line "Nominations with objections or that don't meet speedy criteria will be dropped from this list if not taken to a full CfD."
Hope this helps. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 14:15, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
Proposed Navbox template: Protected areas of Chile
editHi Ruodyssey! thanks for asking my opinion about the proposed all-in-one Protected areas of Chile navbar. I actually wasn't much involved in the previous versions, my edits were mostly directed on establishing interlanguage wikilinks. I think the main function of navbars is quick and easy navigation, and in that regard I like them as small and simple as possible. Your proposed approach wouldn't be applicable to many countries which have large numbers of protected areas (many hundreds in Australia or USA) but it can make sense for small countries. I suggest before trying it out, consult also the editors of some of the most active and highest quality PA articles. Elekhh (talk) 20:45, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

WP:BIO
editI think in most country projects the equivalent of your addition of WP Bio to categories doesnt match - have a check - it is usually the article not the categories :) - good to see the enthusiasm for the project - I just think the articles are the ones that deserve the WP Bio - I could be wrong - but have a check against other country projects - I think you will find the difference that I am pointing out - cheers - no big deal I am not going to remove it or anythng - but I think it is different from other projects thats all SatuSuro 10:19, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
- Bio articles certainly deserve a WpBio tag. So, I think you're questioning whether cat pages need WpBio tags when they are country-related cats, yes? I had a look at Category:Category-Class biography articles. It's a listing of all the category talk pages that are WpBio tagged. In it you'll find some country-related projects are less thorough than others; Brazil is very thorough, but most other countries have a mere sprinkling. And I'm seeing a lot of dancers, physicists and snooker players by country, which appear to have been added by a few individuals and the PhysicsBio Taskforce.
- So, what's going on here? {{WPBiography}} has a class=category option to autopopulate this cat, but the doc doesn't advise where to use it. Is this just a sparsely used feature or am I overtagging? Since I don't see any mention of it in its talk pages, maybe we should pose the question there or in the Bio project. No need to revert just yet, though; I can do that once we know more. Thanks! - Ruodyssey (talk) 03:44, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
Yeah as I said I could be wrong :) Please do not revert anything on the basis of my comment btw - the sheer size of the bio project and the general low interest in project tagging by most eds on wp en leaves us in a strange territory - I suspect that bot enthusiasts - if they applied some basic rules to categories - they could work non stop for weeks - but there is the server overload issue that arises like an ugly monster :) SatuSuro 04:58, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
I did see a bot somewhere that WpBio tags, but I think you're right about the lack of interest on that front. Maybe a compromise would be to tag only Category:Chilean people and be done with it. :P My intent was initially just to {{WPChile}}-tag these cats, but I noticed the sporadic WpBio tags and thought I'd add those while I was at it. Would you mind posting the question to the Bio project? I'm feeling a little swamped at the moment. Thank you! - Ruodyssey (talk) 05:07, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
Previous attempts at communicating with tagging types at bio met with a deafening silence - I suspect we could try south american countries and eventually take over the world :) seriously though dont stress about it - some projects have pitiful records with project tagging - you have done marvels for chile - I was in Valparaiso last August - your tagging has me thinking I should upload more piccies for commons - and also do some stubs about things that I saw there. So my suggestion is we simply do what we can and think is right and not worry too much about it SatuSuro 05:13, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
Thank you! And please do upload your pics! Commons needs more Chile photos IMHO. And if you're so inclined, please feel free to join WikiProject Chile; it's been inactive for several years and I'm striving to resuscitate it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. One last thing: I hate to leave the few remaining Chile bio cats un-bio-tagged, so if you don't object, I'd like to either finish them or (more painfully) revert the ones I already bio-tagged. I just hate to leave it 90% done. - Ruodyssey (talk) 08:06, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
You are now a Reviewer
editHello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:39, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
Hi, any chance you could expand this from Spanish wiki and find some sources? Dr. Blofeld - 15:36, 18 July 2010 (UTC) 17:10, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
- No problem. I'll see what I can find. - Ruodyssey (talk) 17:28, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
Great. Its quite something to see somebody interested in Chile on here. You may be interested to know that User:Calliopejen and I started transferring the 1901 biographical dictionary of Chile onto here. I'm still waiting for her to expand the stubs I started so I can create more. Keep up the great work on the communes. As for Chile map size I think we need to come to a formal agreement what size they should be. Given the length of the map 250px standard is big I agree but I've often seen it ridiculously small like 70px. I think we need to agree on a standard size for the chile pin map. Somewhere between 150px and 200px I think. I'd say that your 175px is perfect. 175px agreed? Dr. Blofeld - 15:36, 18 July 2010 (UTC) 17:36, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
- Nice, I'd be interested to see that dictionary. Yes, the map stretches the infobox a bit. 175px is good with me. I've been resizing those that weren't 175px, so I hope it's just small enough so you can still see where the place is without messing up too many section headers in the process -- btw, is there any way to prevent that besides {{clear}}? - Ruodyssey (talk) 17:49, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
{{-}}? Dr. Blofeld - 15:36, 18 July 2010 (UTC) 20:54, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
Wow that's an amazing expansion! Awesome job! Calliopejen should post you the diccionario soon. You should nominate it for DYK. Dr. Blofeld - 15:36, 18 July 2010 (UTC) 19:33, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
Unreferenced BLPs
editHello Ruodyssey! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot notifying you on behalf of the the unreferenced biographies team that 1 of the articles that you created is currently tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 272 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

A request for help involving translation from Spanish. In August 2010, the Chilean TV station MEGA broadcast a documentary about the Dnepropetrovsk Maniacs case. There has been a need for an English transcript of the documentary, but at 85 minutes it is too long to ask for the whole thing to be done. In the 1:43 extract here, journalist Michele Canale talks about obtaining a CD from an anonymous source which he says contains a five minute clip of a never before seen video of a murder by the Maniacs. The subtitles seem broadly OK, but are a bit rough. For example, the caption says "its another murder by the maniacs" although the spoken words are "Es un homicidio real grabado por los propios asesinos" (It is a real murder recorded by the killers themselves). Since there have been requests at Talk:Dnepropetrovsk maniacs to include this in the article, could you comment on how accurate the subtitles are in this clip? Alternatively, could you recommend someone who might do this? Thanks.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 15:42, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

Latin American 10,000 Challenge invite
editHi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin America/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Argentina etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Latin American content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon. If you would like to see this happening for Latin America, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Latin America, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant!♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 00:52, 27 October 2016 (UTC)
Possible removal of AWB access due to inactivity
