- Hi! I assume the page is Draft:Fitch Means. It looks like you got a couple pieces of feedback: move citations next to the information they support, and rewrite it to be more neutral in tone. For the first, for each sentence, find the source that supports it and move the footnote to the end of the sentence. If there's any information in the article where you can't find a source for it, remove it. For example:
- On Wikipedia, you need to use inline citations for information about living people.[1]
- The tone is more difficult. You want to be really sure it doesn't sound like you're advertising the subject or editorializing -- see WP:NPOV. For example, you don't want to say "soulful melodies and poignant storytelling" unless an independent source has described him that way, and in that case you'll say something like "Jane Smith at the New York Times described his music as....". Some other problematic phrases might be "musical journey", "gained recognition" (what does that mean? if it means he played there a lot say that, if it means he was popular you need a source for that) "electrifying" "reputation as a dynamic artist", "mesmerizing", etc. These aren't the only issues, but I hope these examples help. In general, the goal is that the person reading the article can't tell if you like or dislike the subject - it should just neutrally report facts. - Hi! It looks like you got an answer on your talk page (User talk:Thomas Kenney 1). In general, article talk pages are for talking about how to make the article better. Random comments about the topic of the article will sometimes get deleted. If you want to talk about changing the article, try rephrasing what you said. Hello mentor Rusalskii -- I made my annual contribution and was asked if I wanted to be an editor for Wikipedia -- I can edit pages dealing with mathematics and pages dealing with Judaism -- I have several questions to ask -- do you assign me pages to review -- or do I pick pages -- I know of at least one article that is incorrect in that it only presents one perspective of what happened -- I would like to edit that so that the other perspective is present as well -- I would also like to post a Wikipedia page about myself -- will I be able to do that -- I am a Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Mathematics and have published a number of books related to Judaism as well -- so having a Wikipedia page is quite reasonable -- I look forward to your response -- Joe Rosenstein --JoeRosenstein (talk) 00:28, 25 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Joe, thanks for taking the invitation to edit here! No one assigns you pages, you can work on whatever you're interested in. You can edit the article you think only presents one perspective, though make sure that everything you add is cited to reliable, neutral sources.

- Thank you for your response. If I edit an article, doesn't anyone check that my edits are justified?
- As for the article about myself, I was contacted by a company which said that I should have a Wikipedia page and offered to write one and, with my consent, post it on Wikipedia. I sent them materials, using which they wrote a page, I commented on it, they revised the page, but after a few more iterations, they ghosted me. I suspect it was a scam, though I didn't pay them anything upfront. But I now have a full article about myself that was written by someone who doesn't know me and that, they said, follows Wikipedia guidelines, so perhaps posting it would not violate the COI policy. 100.1.141.147 (talk) 22:04, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
- Yeesh, yeah, those are usually at least lying to you even if they aren't exactly scams. In general if it's written by someone expecting to be paid that isn't going to be neutrally written, and paid editing is also considered conflict of interest. To be clear, you can submit (see the process at WP:Articles for creation), but as someone who occasionally reviews there drafts like that are usually not great. I'm happy to take a look if you like.
- For the first question -- no one checks your edits directly. There's some editors looking at new edits for issues, but those editors are generally fpcused on vandalism, unsourced content, and other blatant issues that you don't have to understand the subject to detect. But mostly the way wikipedia works is that anyone who wants to makes whatever edits they think are right, the next person who sees it can comes along and fix it, and so on. There's an essay on that -- WP:BRD. There's no central authority or group of more experienced editors that can pronounce your edits Right or Wrong, though people can definitely disagree with what you've changed!

- Hey, sorry for the delay. You can upload it as a draft (e.g., go to Draft:Joe Rosenstein and create the article).
- Wikipedia footnotes in the simplest form look like so: <ref>Footnote text</ref> or, if you're in the visual editor, there's a button to create a citation in the top bar, it should say "Cite" with a big quotation mark icon. Help:Referencing for beginners has more info.

Hello! I have a question for you. I am here to work on getting my grandfather's Wiki started. I just found an pretty accurate Wiki for him on the German Wikipedia. I want to check it for factual errors and correct them if I find any. Am I allowed to do that or do I need to become an editor there? Also, when that is completed, would I basically write my own version of the facts (would add to what is there with a bit of his personal life and some other things, like books he wrote, etc.) and go through the usual Wiki process? Or, would that one comport over to this Wiki?
Sorry for the newbie questions! Just trying to understand what options are available.

- Hi! If you're working on a page about your grandfather, you may want to take a look at the conflict of interest policy. You are welcome to make minor fixes (grammar, phrasing, etc) yourself, but at least on the English Wikipedia it's highly recommended to make an edit request if making significant changes to the article of someone you're related to. German Wikipedia may have different policies, I'm not quite sure. Make sure to have sources for everything-- even if you personally know it's true, we can't have it on Wikipedia unless it's verifiable.
- If you want to make an article on the English Wikipedia, you can translate the German article and submit it though WP:Articles for creation, where a more experinced editor will review it and make sure it's following all the relevant conflict of interest and sourcing guidelines. - Hi! If you're working on a page about your business, you should first read the conflict of interest guidelines. If you still want to create a page, collect your best sources. Make sure you have at least three sources that are independent from the company (not the company website, not press releases, not interviewa, etc), reliable (newspapers are a good choice), with substantial coverage of your company. If you can't find three such sources, the company probably doesn't have enough sources to have an article.
- Then write the article based only on information from these sources, and submit it to WP:Articles for creation. Rusalkii (talk) 16:58, 14 May 2024 (UTC)

- Not fundamentally, but you do need to be careful that the image is actually showing what you think it is. More importantly, you need to be sure that the image is under a copyright license that lets you upload it -- if you didn't take the picture and it's not really old, it's pretty unlikely, though I can take a look at the specific picture if you like.
