It exists?

[author's note: for posterity's sake, I'd thought I would copy and paste the "talk" page from my IP when I made a slew of anonymous, mostly "wikignome" calibre edits. That said, all of this is likely outdated in some fashion by time you read it--and the links in the boilerplate welcome are helpful right now. I did, in fact, delete my IP; it was a curious move, but I was seized in the grip of paranoia--this was all the more retarded when I realized I used my given name.]

Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions.

Currently, you are editing without a username. You can continue to do so, as you are not required to log in to Wikipedia to read and edit articles; however, logging in will result in a username being shown instead of your IP address. Logging in does not require any personal details, and there are many other benefits for logging in.

When you edit pages:

  • Please respect others' copyrights; do not copy and paste the contents from webpages directly.
  • Please use a neutral point of view when editing articles; this is possibly the most important Wikipedia policy.
  • If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
  • Do not add unreasonable contents into any articles, such as copyrighted text, advertisement messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject. Adding such content or editing articles maliciously is considered vandalism.

The Wikipedia Tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. For now, if you are stuck, you can click the edit this page tab above, type {{helpme}} in the edit box, and then click Save Page; an experienced Wikipedian will be around shortly to answer any questions you may have. Also feel free to ask a question on my Talk page. I will answer your questions as far as I can! Thank you again for contributing to Wikipedia. -- Avi 16:26, 29 June 2006 (UTC) [edit]

Ari Fleischer

edit

...but, and I'm sure this is far from the first and last instance[oh, the bigotry that tags along with free speech sometimes], the article on Ari Fleischer has been a recent target of somewhat blatant anti-semitic remarks; as I saw your page and it said you were a member of the judaism wikiproject as well as an rc patroller, I thought perhaps you would be receptive to either watching it or taking some action to protect this page, as I'm not an accounted wikipedian and am somewhat unaware of what to do in these situations. Here's the diff: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ari_Fleischer&diff=61079846&oldid=61079650.

The way I figure it, regardless of whatever one's political beliefs or views of the man, the fact that he's jewish should not, in any way, be held against him; moreover, the wikipedia article shows up as the fourth item on google for Ari Fleischer, and with all the nonsense in the media about wikipedia we don't need anti-semitism added to the list, I believe. 02:36, 29 June 2006 (UTC) russ.

Thank's for the notice. I will put this on my watchlist, and if the violations get egrigious, I will enlist other help. The edits you refer to were blatantly Anti-Semetic, and you were correct for removing them. Y'yasher Kochachah. -- Avi 16:26, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

Help me

edit

Hello Russ a boykin, I'm sorry you took my removal of the {{helpme}} template as an unkind gesture. When a user places the template on their talk page, a bot in the Wikipedia Bootcamp IRC channel detects it and notifies us. Having been notified, I went to your talk page, and noticed that you'd copied another Wikipedia page onto your talk page, thus enabling the {{helpme}} template accidentally. I therefore removed it. Help is certainly available - please feel free to either put the {{helpme}} tag on your talk page, or visit us directly at the above IRC channel. You can even be instantly connected by clicking here. Cheers, and happy editing, Tangotango 10:05, 30 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
