Conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, RuthiEng. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page David Cobb (activist), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Tol | Talk | Contribs 17:52, 22 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

If I cannot change it, then someone needs to. The picture makes David look crazy. I can supply a better picture.
He is not a liberal. He is progressive. there is a difference.
His primary work now is as Executive Director of Cooperation Humboldt. https://cooperationhumboldt.com/
This article is slanted by a man who has used multiple accounts to make David look bad. It is a personal grudge. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RuthiEng (talkcontribs) 18:03, 22 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

As you have a clear conflict of interest you should not be editing the article directly, you can request edits on the talk page wity the format please change x to y with a reliable independent source, but please note you do not get to control what is in the article. Wikipedia requires independent sources, not primary ones. Theroadislong (talk) 18:19, 22 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
I am not sure what you mean, by the difference of "independent". A primary source is usually the most accurate. Here is CNPBA https://californiapublicbankingalliance.org/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by RuthiEng (talkcontribs) 18:22, 22 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
A primary source is almost never the most accurate, as the subject can say whatever he or she wants about himself or herself. See the no original research section on primary sources. Tol | Talk | Contribs 18:41, 22 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
It now says he is still with Move to Amend. He is not. He is the Executive Director of Cooperation Humboldt. Please change. See https://cooperationhumboldt.com/about-5/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by RuthiEng (talkcontribs) 18:24, 22 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
Please change and move up: Cobb is a director of Cooperation Humbolt.[1] to "co-founder and Executive Director of Cooperation Humboldt. Cooperation Humboldt helps to build a solidarity economy on California’s North Coast.Humboldt is misspelled.
Please also add: David is the Co-Coordinator of the US Solidarity Economy Network, and serves on the Collaborative Design Council of Transition US. He is also on the Board of Advisors of the California Progressive Alliance, and is active with the California Public Banking Alliance. Use citations above. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RuthiEng (talkcontribs) 18:37, 22 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello again. I think the image (WP:LEADIMAGE) in the Cobb article may have changed since your comment above (the current one looks ok to me). If you want to contribute a newer one, that may be good.

However.

WP takes copyright very seriously, and any picture of him already on the web somewhere is almost certainly under some sort of copyright.

So, if you want to "donate" a picture, this is the recommendation:

Choose one you have taken yourself but not published anywhere already. Then upload it with the process that starts HERE. That is a link to Commons, a sister-site to WP where we keep free images. Perhaps name it David Cobb 2021 or something like that. You can then tell me it's done, and I'll add it to the article (unless I think it's bloody awful).
