Saga's name

Just a question... if Kiva's and IXA's names are puns on Japanese words (from "kiba" and "ikusa"), would this be the same for Saga (and Sagark)? I was trying to figure out what his name is from but I couldn't quite figure it out, and I thought you may know.

Also, Rey and Arc's names are from Japanese words also (from "rei" (冷 cold) and "aku" (悪 evil) rspectively) so do you think it's okay for me to make those edits for them? --Burai (talk) 11:10, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

No one knows where "saga" comes from. I can't find any verbs other than "to search" or sagasu that has anything close.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 23:48, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
Hmm... well, I think "sagaku" (差額 balance/difference) is close enough as it's also from Sagark's name but I don't even know if that word connects with Saga's character. And for Rey and Arc, I'll probably not add those edits about their names in case anybody tells me off for "original research" which is against Wikipedia's netiquette. --Burai (talk) 09:16, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
I found a blog that lists "saga" as "nature" or "characteristic" and added it to the article. Also, it seems that ja.wiki has "cleric" for Ixa's motif, and I've changed it, as well. Also, the only person likely to bug you about original research for such a minor thing would be Mythdon.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 10:28, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
I agree with Burai, I think this "Sagark" person's name uses the Kanji for "balance" "差額". Of course we'd need an official source. Is this the "Saga" you were talking about? "性". Moocowsrule (talk) 04:23, 13 November 2008 (UTC)moocowsrule
I haven't found anything about "sagaku" but that is the "saga" I found being mentioned.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 05:28, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
差額 "Sagaku" 差=Sa 額=Gaku. It means "balance" or "difference". ムーカオーズルール 03:15, 17 November 2008 (UTC)moocowsrule
I mean I haven't found anything that relates to the actual character or anything in Japanese that says that it actually comes from that term.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 04:07, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

Hey

Hey, Ryulong, you know me? Do you still up to IRC? I am a bit missed the day we talking. Sorry! --Aleenf1 12:16, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

I'm only in a few channels now.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 21:42, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Trouble?

Are you having any trouble with Wikipedia tonight? In the last half hour, I have been disconnected a number of times, unable to load certain pages, and generally finding things to be very slooooow... I rather assume it is not just me. Do you know anything? ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 02:46, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

It's very slow tonight.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 03:00, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

No hard feelings right?

I know we've reached disagreements regarding Fuuma no Kojirou, but I hope you don't have bad feelings about me... Plus, your name should be read as "Iselong" or "Tatsulong", because when (at least in Japanese) Kanji are combined usually the Chinese reading is used, rather than the Japanese reading. Of course I'm not sure if that is the same in Japanese+Chinese... Moocowsrule (talk) 03:41, 10 November 2008 (UTC)moocowsrule

Sorry about the caps lock thing, it was a stressful day. Moocowsrule (talk) 03:43, 10 November 2008 (UTC)moocowsrule

So long as everything's finalized on that page, I think things are okay. Also, "ryū" is more recognizable than "tatsu."—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 04:27, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
I guess it is finalized... "Ryū" may be more recognizable than "Tatsu", but there's some old rule that says that in Kanji compounds (like names), we use the Chinese reading, but I think it's more of a choice for Japanese+Chinese, considering in Japan most names were in Japanese and not Chinese... Kind of confusing... :P Moocowsrule (talk) 06:24, 10 November 2008 (UTC)moocowsrule
I'm just going to forget Fuuma no Kojirou exists for now... Moocowsrule (talk) 06:24, 10 November 2008 (UTC)moocowsrule
Let's just move on in general.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 06:29, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
That's the general idea... but maybe somewhere it should be mentioned that the current title "Fuuma no Kojirou" is the title used by the Japanese drama, just so nobody moves it to "Fūma no Kojirō" or something. Moocowsrule (talk) 06:35, 10 November 2008 (UTC)moocowsrule
That's what the talk page and history say.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 06:38, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
Sorry! Just read the section of Manual of Style JP where it talks about honoring the companies romanization. Moocowsrule (talk) 02:15, 13 November 2008 (UTC)moocowsrule

Kiva Titles

Well, first off we do have King in Kamen Rider Blade. Also, titles like "Mayor" doesn't normally follow an "the". Same can be said for "chief", "master", "lord", and so on. Fractyl (talk) 05:30, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

These people are "the King" and "the Queen" of this particular organization. Do they refer to each other as "King" and "Bishop"? Or do we simply know who they are by their tattoo? The fact that Maya, Mio, and Taiga have given names dictates that these are titles instead of names.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 05:36, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
The way I see it, they are refered as "King" and "Queen" as BOTH names and titles, with King, Rook, and Bishop refered by just name. But as I mentioned, not all titles need a "the" before it. Even KKK titles like Grand Wizard are used like names. Fractyl (talk) 05:41, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
That is a really bad analogy.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 05:41, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
Well, I was hoping not use the Grand Wizard in my explaination. But it's a conviction I'm sticking to because of the show's context. Fractyl (talk) 05:52, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
That is a bad analogy... Moocowsrule (talk) 06:36, 10 November 2008 (UTC)moocowsrule
Ok...Look the show uses the titles as Names, some anime and Tokusatsu did this as well. Now I'm sorry if I may have bad analogies, but I'm serious about this.Fractyl (talk) 14:01, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Reverted edit on The Amazing Race 13 (Currency symbol confusion)

I've reverted one of your edits on The Amazing Race 13 because you put in the wrong currency symbol. Rp, which you inserted as the symbol for the Indian rupee, is actually the symbol for the Indonesian rupiah. The correct symbol for the rupee is Rs. You can read the articles about the two currencies see my point. I'm sorry if I have to do this, but I just wanted to point this out to you. - 上村七美 (Nanami-chan) | talkback | contribs 16:59, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Hmm. The Rupee article uses that symbol, though.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 22:07, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
You're actually talking about the general rupee article. But since leg 6 took place in India, the currency in question is the Indian rupee, and that currency uses Rs, not Rp. - 上村七美 (Nanami-chan) | talkback | contribs 03:46, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
At Indian rupee they have "The most commonly used symbols for the rupee are Rs, ₨ and रू."—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 06:00, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
At least, that what the article said, but Rs seems to be preferred above everything else. So it'll be better to retain the Rs symbol. I see more of Rs being used to symbolize the Indian rupee than Rp because of me watching several Indian shows. Also, everyone else, especially Indonesians, might see "Rp" as the rupiah. Or we can use words instead to avoid any more confusion. - 上村七美 (Nanami-chan) | talkback | contribs 06:21, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
Or INR.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 06:22, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
Shall we pose this on the talk page so we'll know what everyone else will say? - 上村七美 (Nanami-chan) | talkback | contribs 06:25, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
It's not terribly important.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 09:49, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Go-onger

I'm only commenting here because of Net issues, and I'm too lazy to log back on mIRC before it's fixed. Anyways, that Go=onger edit by IP 208.201.131.76, changing Sanctity to Seriousness in the title of episode 38? I know that user, and I also know that she's fluent in Japanese, so I tend to trust her judgment. I'm going to revert it back to her edit, but if you seriously have an issue with that translation, let me know why before you go ahead and change it back. Arrowned (talk) 02:44, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Oh. I just thought that "sanctity" sounds better than seriousness, considering the context of the episode.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 03:23, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Power Rangers Notability

Someone has recently tagged episodes such as Countdown to Destruction and Once a Ranger with a lack of notability stamp thing (sorry, tired XD), and as I'm an idiot, wanted to alert you, as you're one of the main PR editors, and you'd know what to do in the situation :P Myzou (talk) 12:02, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

Old block

I've unblocked 64.34.0.0/16 as it doesn't seem to exclusively be used for hosting - see User talk:Dhodges. You may wish to comment there. Spellcast (talk) 03:25, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

On second thought, perhaps it would've been better to keep it blocked since the few cases where someone edits legitimately may not outweigh the number of open proxies. Legit users can have their IP softblocked or be given WP:IPBE. If you think it should be reblocked, feel free to reapply it and I'll grant IPBE. Spellcast (talk) 03:44, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
Well, we'll see if problems persist.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 03:49, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
Given past history, it wouldn't be surprising if it does. Spellcast (talk) 04:09, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

Block on User:Ponty Pirate

There was no need for that, the guy just set himself a 5 year enforced wikibreak, and all of this came about because he was freaking out about one dodgy edit and a retort. See his talk page, WP:AN and WP:ANI--Jac16888 (talk) 23:47, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

I posted without thinking when I saw the deletion review was up, when in actual fact, it looks like you have not been given quite sufficient time to respond before requesting the review. I apologise if I have acted discourteously, and did not intend to be so hasty. My comments still stand, but I am sorry if I have acted poorly in the process. From your closing summary, it could have been read that you were planning to be uncoöperative in resolving this without a review process, so I am sorry if I have been confused and caused offence. —Kan8eDie (talk) 01:31, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

Honoshu

I can take Honōshū, but "Flame-People"'s not just the right term for Samurai World, "Honoshu" actually plays on "Engine" (En-Jin/Flame-People). Fractyl (talk) 13:52, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

No. It does not work at all because of how the words changed.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 05:10, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
How so, it's clear the group is called Honoshu, it's no different to real-life groups in Japan we partially translate like the Sanada Ten-Braves. To at to the name theme, Honoo is translated as "en" in Hira/Kata; Shuu is a bit iffy, but both it and Jin can be translated as "people". Fractyl (talk) 05:28, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
Just leave it translated. If there was a pun involved, it'd be evident in the reading. "Shuu" is a different kanji that is translated as people. And it doesn't make sense to have "Honoshu" at all.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 06:02, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
It makes sense as many feudal japan groups like the Oniwaban was refered by their japanese names. Because it's a world that happens to be modeled after Feudal Japan, translations aren't that much needed. Fractyl (talk) 07:05, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
Let's just leave things as they are until there is something more definitive.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 07:09, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
