I tried to make a footnote on this page, but it does not work. Can you please check what's wrong with it ? S710 19:26, 6 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Done. Leaving msg's on your own talk page really won't do it to get help. I'd suggest going to the help desk, instead. Also, you've got to do {{helpme}}, not the {{help}} you put below, to get somebody's attention. These tags are tricky. Ooh, a few other good things in our boilerplate welcome msg...

Welcome!

Hello, S710, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!  ...and feel free to drop me a line at my talk page if you need some nonemergency help. Cheers and happy editing! --Kchase02 T 05:41, 10 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

{{help}} Please don't delete this author. The article as I wrote is only a beginning. He is a very influnetial and important figure in the history of Somalia. The SYL is thé single most important party that lead Somalia to independence. This man was one of its founders !!

Categories

edit

Help me on this one. I've created the category Category:Somali novelists a subcategory of Category:novelists by nationality and of category:Somali writers. Now I exspected writers in the category Category:Somali novelists also to show up in the broader category Category:Somali writers. They don't. What is wrong ?

The reason the pages aren't showing up is because, on the pages, you need to put the text, [[Category:Category you want]] on the pages you want in the category. --GeorgeMoney T·C 19:24, 11 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

So there is no mechanism that makes pages incategory:Somali novelists automatically into pages incategory:Somali writers into category:Somali people and or category:novelists or category:writers (in general), unless you list all those category on each page ? That's awkward !S710 19:31, 11 June 2006 (UTC)What the use of subcategories if they don't function ?Reply

Hawiye edits

edit

Greetings, your recent edits to Hawiye caused the existing formatting (such as bold text and internal links) to disappear. Please be sure you don't undo the formatting when you edit the article (I suspect you are copying and pasting from the text itself, rather than the edit window, because the text does not change). Also, please do not remove verifiable content from the article without first discussing it at Talk:Hawiye (you removed "The CIA and Human Rights Watch indicate that Hawiye is the largest Somali clan"). Finally, it is recommended that you use the preview button before you save; this helps you find any errors you have made, and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Thanks again. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 15:22, 15 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I've removed this reference from the Hawiye article: "Somalia Tribal Study, 2005, [1]". You did not include the source of this document, only a URL where it may be found (and I don't think that is who published the document). The document itself doesn't say, either. Without this information the reference is not verifiable. Please respond at Talk:Hawiye#Reference_needs_source. Thanks. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 16:46, 15 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hassaniya article

edit

Issues You've got no source for the novel information that you're introducing and you're deleting information that has a source. Also, there is some kind of confusion about the term "Western Sahara;" it refers to a particular geographic region with defined boudaries, not a generic location, hence, it cannot include Mauritania, nor is it a part of "Moroccan Sahara." -Justin (koavf)·T·C·M 20:55, 19 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks I appreciate your recent edits to this article, but I would caution you that it has been going through some turmoil lately and your edits might get lost in the shuffle; please keep an eye on it if you can. Furthermore, I would appreciate it if you could cite your sources for your information. If you need help doing this in the body of the article, I would be glad to assist you. Perhaps you can read through this page: Wikipedia:Template_messages/Sources_of_articles/Generic_citations and see some of the examples of how I use these to clean up some of your pages. WP:BIO

edit

Hi. I've tagged a couple of biographic articles for concerns about notability and I wonder if you could have a look. The two are Rabah Deriasa and Latifa Baka, and you might remember starting one of them! Is there "depth of coverage" anywhere for either of these, or multiple independent sources with a bit of depth?? (I've only looked for English/French sources through Google.) Thanks. --VSerrata 14:10, 20 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Notability of Abderrahmane Zenati

edit

A tag has been placed on Abderrahmane Zenati, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Ozgod 23:53, 23 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Figuig.jpg

edit

Dear S710,
Your nice photos of the rock engravings at Figuig [2] look excellent in the English Wikipedia article [3]. There is an author in the French Wikipedia who has contributed several articles on such engravings in Morocco/Algeria, who would like to include the image in his French articles - but he can't because the image is in Wikipedia, not in Wikimedia Commons, so it's restricted to the English version. I don't quite know what your copyright situation is with these but as he asked me to see if I could help I thought I'd ask whether you would like to upload into Commons, so that he can make use of it? His article is here [4] and I think the English article is a version of the French one. Would be great if you can help! Cheers, Eebahgum (talk) 15:36, 2 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Abdisalam Issa-Salwe

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Abdisalam Issa-Salwe, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

No assertion of notability

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. NowCommons: File:Zagora.jpg

edit

File:Zagora.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:Draa near Zagora.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:Draa near Zagora.jpg]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 11:05, 8 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Tamazight and Tashelhiyt

edit

I am a editor currently working on the Central Morocco Tamazight article with some others, and we've encountered some confusion regarding its classification. I noticed that you made an edit to the Atlas languages article in which you wrote that Central Morocco Tamazight is considered by some to be classified under Tashelhiyt. This is an excellent piece of information, but we would like to find a print or online source which supports it. (In fact, any sources information on the classification of Northern Berber and specifically Atlas languages would be immensely helpful even if you can't answer this particular question.) Thank you in advance. Mo-Al (talk) 05:00, 10 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Ahmad al-Araj

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ahmad al-Araj requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Liz Read! Proposed deletion of Tewfik Allal

edit

The article Tewfik Allal has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication of notability; source contains only a sentence of coverage

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
