GA reviews

Thanks for your reply - I had seen it, but got diverted before responding and regrettably it slipped my mind. I certainly have no objection to helping out, though to be honest after the quality of your previous reviews, I doubt you'll need it. I'm less active at GA than I once was since getting more involved with milhist, though I occasionally contribute to WP:GAR and try to keep up with developments in the project. There's no doubt that your contributions are very welcome, both to the GA WikiProject and articles about India in general; I'm sure you've already noticed, but this is an area of Wikipedia that sometimes lags behind others in the quality stakes, and (as with many areas) can attract some serious POV editing. Having principled, conscientious and high-calibre editors such as you working in this important area is a huge benefit to our encyclopedia. All the best, EyeSerenetalk 16:37, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Greetings from srirangam99

Hi, thanks for leaving a message on my talk page. Though, I did read extensively both books by K.A.Nilakanta Sastri, I left them at home (these are "A history of South India" and "An Advanced History of India" by the same author. Pl. rest assured that I will indeed quote the page numbers, the exact text and also the publisher and the ISBN number. Right now I am busy with office work and may have to leave early today (13th July in India), but if possible I will place the relevant text with all details as you specified either today itself or tomorrow. Looking forward to your continued guidance. Can you also help me on how to change the title of the article "Chola Dynasty" to "Chola Empire". I do have reliable quotes attributing how among the various kingdoms in Deccan and South India it is the Cholas whose dominions deserved to be called an empire.

Thanks.

Hi Bangalore-Yesvantapur.. !! can I call you that???? anyways, as you indicated I have added information with reliable sources with ISBN book number, book publisher's name year etc. But it seems somewhere there is some disambiguation to the other sources in the book... can you kindly set those correct. I apologize for the mistake. Thank you. Do reply.

Please do not add text from broken links. Dont back out sp fixes and notability downgrades.

Please clarify this

File:Kashmir train.jpg cant be GFDL in 2008 and fairuse in 2009! Even as fairuse it looks replaceable in some articles. Hometech (talk) 19:02, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

Condom GAR

Thanks so much for reviewing condom! Your suggestions have been very helpful in providing guidance to improving the article.

I have either implemented or responded to all of your suggestions (my list is here). When you have time, I would appreciate an updated review. LyrlTalk C 20:21, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

I don't know if you have the Condom GA page on your watchlist. If not, this is to let you know there has a response to the request for a second opinion. LyrlTalk C 00:57, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
There's also a third opinion now. Do you think are ready to wrap up the GA review now? --RexxS (talk) 14:09, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
  • I went to the GA review for condom based on the request for second opinion posted in July. It appeared that all the concerns you previously identified had been addressed, except for the "other uses" section, about which I left a comment but I don't feel that a minor issue like that is sufficient to keep the article from being promoted. As you have been inactive on the review since July 28 and have not posted here in 5 days, and based on advice from the GAN talk page, I have promoted the article to GA status. Jammu and Northern

Hey bro the reason I added that dispute claim is because Northern Areas contains the same repetitive info added by pov pushers so why should Jammu and Kashmir be exempt from the detailed mention of the conflict could you please tell me why the Northern areas article needs to have detailed mention of the disputed and be littered by pov terms like "controlled" and "administered" I believe it should be removed and then there would be no need for me to edit Jammu and Kashmir article to balance out both sides please cheers Endocrine89 (talk) 19:05, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

I shall await your reply Endocrine89 (talk) 19:10, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

Re: SMS

Preferablt, we'll talk here only..

ME: Isn't it surprising how India's self-proclaimed longest flyover doesn't have an article on WIki?

YOU: The key words are 'self-proclaimed'. Wel'll first have to look for rs apart from notability issues. Continue this discussion on my talk page - I'll come online.

ME: What surprises me is that fact that noone has turned up to create an article on this topic yet.

--Rsrikanth05 (talk) 10:47, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Wokay. I'll keep the conversation here for continuity. Right now there are other contenders for the top spot as well : 1; 2; 3. So, what do you pick? Regards, SBC-YPR (talk) 11:35, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
Apparently none of these are worth talking about. The Mahim Intercchange at Bandra, the entry to the Sea Link, and the Hebbal flyover, both are more or less the same length at around 4.7-5km, and the Hosur Road flyover, [BETL] is 9.985km and is 2 months away from opening. Worth mentioning, however if the NBTPL on Tumkur Road between Peenya and Madvara. Cheers.. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 14:13, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the reminder! I will try and make it, if nothing else crops up. Regards, SBC-YPR (talk) 16:54, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Sure, it will be good t have you ther... Hopefully, I can make it.. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 17:17, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

BTW

GA2a ("it provides references to all sources of information") doesn't require citations to be either consistently or correctly formatted. The only requirement is that they exist. Only FACs have to have perfection in their form. WhatamIdoing (talk) 22:40, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Your comments ...

Hi SBC, I said anachronistic because after chittor victory Akbar the great planned the building of a new capital. Where you had moved the material to it does not convey this connection.

Second, instead of removing the stuff I just the tightened the two sentences.

Hang on

Please do not engage in an edit war. Let us develop consensus and then edit. Thanks. More random musing (talk) 18:10, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

It better to work on a section by section. Improve it and then move on to next rather then throwing the entire kitchen sink at once. Please pick one section and let us work on that. And no more edit warring please. Thanks. More random musing (talk) 18:18, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Alternative views on a subject is not advertising

Was that Vandalism? May be you didn't like a different view being presented. http://indiatoday.intoday.in/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&issueid=111&id=68024&Itemid=1&sectionid=114 I think wikipedia can not and should not be forced to delete/edit alternative views on any subject. Let the reader decide. Thank you (Khan.found (talk) 19:12, 27 October 2009 (UTC))

Did I forget to thank you? ..

SBC-YPR ,Thank you for participating in my RfA, which passed nearly unanimously with 174 in support, 2 in opposition and 1 neutral votes. Special thanks goes to RegentsPark, Samir and John Carter for their kind nomination and support. I am truly honored by the trust and confidence that the community has placed in me. I thank you for your kind inputs and I will be sincerely looking at the reasons that people opposed me so I can improve in those areas ( including my english ;) ). If you ever need anything please feel free to ask me and I would be happy to help you :). Have a great day ! -- Tinu Cherian - 06:02, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
