Warning page movers

I moved a page (Bernardo cremades) and the resulting redirect was tagged for speedy deletion. Would it be possible to stop the bot from warning users when the page they created was a redirect resulting from a page move? Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 06:12, 20 November 2012 (UTC)

Hi Callanecc, sorry for taking a while to get back to you on this. In your case, certainly, you were the wrong person to receive the warning, although I would stress that the bot did not make a mistake as such, it was simply compounding the original mistake, which was to mark the redirect as CSD-G12 rather than the new page. Unfortunately, the bot can only really assume that the original tagger is tagging the right page, and wait for someone uninvolved to review the nomination. As far as not warning users when the page they created was created as part of a move, this isn't really desired behaviour in most cases (yours being the exception): For example, in a typical case a page would have been moved incorrectly, e.g. a vandal moves a school's page to Hogwarts school, leaving a redirect at the school's page. The tagger would then nominate the original school's page (now a redirect) for deletion, in order to make way for the page to be moved back. If the vandal then removes that deletion tag (trying to keep their vandalistic move in place) then the bot should replace that deletion template and warn the user. It's not really possible for the bot to determine the difference between this kind of case and what happened in yours, unfortunately, but I think that a user mistakenly tagging a redirect for deletion rather than the page is rare enough that things like this shouldn't arise often. - Kingpin¹³ (talk) 15:52, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
