  Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Sakhalin International School", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it appears to represent an organization or school rather than an individual person. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing this form, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 22:26, 3 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Username query

edit

I am a teacher at Sakhalin International School. I am in charge of all ICT related issues for the school. As such we are an organisation. We are the organisation that is represented in this article but are in no way represented BY the article.

We are concerned by multiple editing of the Wikipedia page for our school (Which we did not create in the first place) by unknown individuals from a local IP address and as such have created a school account in an attempt to curb further editing.

In truth we would prefer that the page is deleted entirely as it in no way represents our school.

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Thank you. Your reason here Sakhalin International School (talk) 21:59, 4 October 2016 (UTC)

Decline reason:

You need to request a new username, as explained in the block message. Wikipedia does not allow usernames that appear to represent organizations (including schools), so please follow the instructions and choose one that represents only you and will be used only by you - group (including school) accounts are not permitted. As previously stated I am a teacher representing Sakhalin International School. I have expressly created this account at Wikipedia's suggestion following repeated editing of the page "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sakhalin_International_School" from a shared IP address.

I would like to avoid further unsolicited editing of this article which is not endorsed by our organisation and indeed contains false information relating to our organisation. Perhaps you could advise me accordingly?

Regards;

Neil Pettitt Teacher Sakhalin International School.

I have explained why your unblock request is unacceptable above, but you also need to understand that your school does not get to endorse content added to the article - anyone can remove unsourced false information, but the school has no more authority over the Wikipedia article than anyone else. So your advice would be change my username to something acceptable to you then monitor the page accordingly?

I've done the rename for you, so no need to ask anywhere else. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 22:37, 4 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Please change my username to SISTeacher — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sakhalin International School (talkcontribs)

Thanks for the help in renaming. I will try to monitor the page accordingly. Hopefully this username will also stop other unsolicited logins from this shared IP address.
