Request reason:
Never explained how I have violated ANY rules here. I represent no 'group' or 'company', and I use my own name. There is no violation in that.
Decline reason:
Declined pending your response - please put up another unblock template to indicate your acceptance of the terms below. — Hersfold (t/a/c) 04:15, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
But you created an article called SP Goodman that was deleted as advertising, so even if it is not strictly a business or group it is still likely a Conflict of Interest and Username Violation. Templarion (talk) 17:12, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- You are correct in the your username is not a violation of our policy. The reason you were blocked was, as Templarion said, the repeated recreation of a page by the same name, which on review appears to be an autobiography. Because Wikipedia works to be neutral on all of our subjects, we try to avoid any possibility of conflicts of interest, which editors have when they write about subjects they are closely related to. This conflict can easily lead editors to add a certain bias to the article, inadvertently or otherwise, that could make the article appear skewed one way or another. In your case, your article appeared to be advertising your musical and online efforts.
- Now that that has been explained to you, I would be willing to unblock you if you agree to avoid writing about yourself in the future, and to avoid other similar conflicts of interest. In reviewing the block, this does seem to be a little harsh, especially since you are editing under your own name. I'm going to leave the blocking administrator a note to see if they would agree with this; in the meantime, please comment below if you would also agree to this, and if you have any questions.
- I do apologize for the confusion; Wikipedia is a complicated place, and it is often easy for new users to get ensnared in some of our rules without ever having them fully explained. I hope this has helped you understand them some, and won't discourage you from continuing to contribute here. Hersfold (t/a/c) 17:48, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- Redvers has agreed that you can be unblocked, provided you understand and agree to the above conditions. Please comment below once you've read through them. Hersfold (t/a/c) 23:48, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
