Article Licensing
editHi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:
- Multi-Licensing FAQ - Lots of questions answered
- Multi-Licensing Guide
- Free the Rambot Articles Project
To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:
- Option 1
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
OR
- Option 2
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)
I would like to revive this project. I noticed that you've added yourself to the list of available Spanish-to-English translators. Are you interested in working on Spanish Translation of the Week? — J3ff 06:20, 21 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- Sorry, these days I'm very busy and I'm not doing much work even in the Spanish Wikipedia. I may help a little, however. Sabbut 07:41, 23 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Yu-Gi-Oh! in Spanish
editDo you know if Yu-Gi-Oh! manga (Japanese comic) is published in Spanish? WhisperToMe 02:48, 23 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Thanks, Sabbut :)
After I started "Yu-Gi-Oh!", I noticed that "Yu-Gi-Oh" was already there. But "Yu-Gi-Oh!" is the proper title, so I redirected that to "Yu-Gi-Oh!" and reworked the article to focus on the manga names that Planete DeAugostino uses (Viz in the USA, Kana in France, and Carlsen in Germany also use the Japanese names in the manga). WhisperToMe 03:41, 24 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Macrons
editI don't understand why people on the Spanish Wikipedia place macrons in Japanese people's names when they aren't normally used (e.g. Junichiro Koizumi). One should have macrons in the Romanization next to the Japanese characters of the person's name (e.g. the "Koizumi Junichiro" you see next to the kanji), but general references shouldn't have macrons. WhisperToMe 06:26, 26 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Perhaps what can be done on ES is this:
- if a figure appears on the news, the form of the name used in Spanish-language media is most often used.
- If it is a character in a TV show or a video game, one should use one of the official naming sets (e.g. the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga published by Planeta DeAgostini has one, and the 4Kids anime is another)
- If it is an author, one should use the form used most commonly in the books published in Spanish.
- A name of a Japanese person well-known in the Spanish-speaking would should be rendered the way it is usually rendered.
- If it is a place name in Japan, it should be rendered as most Spaniards would render the name.
- All other names should use standard Hepburn. WhisperToMe 01:17, 4 Mar 2005 (UTC)
--Waninoco 00:28, 9 Mar 2005 (UTC)

an alternative romanization of Japanese
editI am proposing an Extended Hepburn System (EHS). It is a transliterational system of the full set of Kana syllabary. But the problem is which Kana script. When applied to the classical one, it produces a very satisfactory spelling. But few Japanese people use it today. If you are interested, please read User_talk:WhisperToMe#an alternative romanization.--Kmns tsw (talk) 09:13, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Translation from English to Spanish
editHi there. I like to ask for your support in translation. If you like please have a look at a short article about an international music award which should be available in several important languages like Spanish. It's already published in English, French, and German. You wouldn't have to bother with the tablet and the references as I would prepare both for Spanish. Just let me know. Best regards ArcCan (talk) 21:09, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
- Hi Sabbut, Thanks for your reply. I already asked for translation in Portuguese, Japanese, Russian, Polish, and Korean but have no answer, yet. There are many interested classical violinists in Spain and South America so it would make sense to have an encyclopaedic article about it in their own language. If you need further details to understand the background please let me know. There is also an English website for the award which is linked in the external links of the English version resp. the references. Have a nice weekend. ArcCan (talk) 14:29, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for June 28
editHi. When you recently edited Socialist Patients' Collective, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Overthrow (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

editSpeedy deletion nomination of Category:Prussia–Spain relations
editA tag has been placed on Category:Prussia–Spain relations requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion".
