$x^{a+ib}=x^{a}.x^{ib}=x^{a}.e^{{log(x)}^{ib}}$

$x^{a+ib}=x^{a}.cos(b.log(x))+isin(b.log(x))$ by de Moivres theorem

$x^{i}$ is obtained by taking a=0 and b=1 in the above equation

thus $x^{i}$=cos(log(x)) + i sin(log(x))
