American Authors

edit

Hi @Sakali1927, I just thought I'd reach out to you, as you mentioned in your last edit on the American Authors page that you have no other way to communicate with me. This is a convenient way to do so.
By the way, I'm still skeptical about the single release, but I don't know enough about what qualifies as an "official" single, so I'll let it stand. Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 13:31, 20 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you! I am new to Wikipedia editing. Yeah, it seems like it is marketed as a single as far as I can tell. I’m not sure why it shows as an EP in some places. It’s likely because there are 3 other songs (the waterfall method) of releasing songs. I found a website that shows that it was released in some form as a single which i sourced. Also - one question. I am also working on adding pages for the recent albums for this band, but some of the info comes from booklet in the the official vinyl they sell. Would this be allowed to be referenced and if so how? I can’t find a PDF of the booklet. Sakali1927 (talk) 03:06, 21 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Sakali1927, what is the "waterfall method"?
Yeah, sourcing album info directly from the material is tricky, and I've faced that situation before (not sure how I dealt with it then). My suggestion is that you look here first, and see if there's any useful info. Good luck! Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 04:32, 21 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Sorry I forgot about this! Waterfall method (it's actually called waterfall release) is when an artist releases a new single with the previous singles from that album/ep.
Example:
Single one would just have one track, the first single
Single two would have two tracks, Single #2, Single #1
Single three would have three tracks, Single #3, Single #2, Single #1
Usually artists only do that three times becaues they only have three pre-release singles but I'm not sure what American Authors are doing. It's very inconsistant. Sakali1927 (talk) 04:27, 27 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Oh cool, I'd never heard of that before. Thanks for the explanation! Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 14:09, 27 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
