Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:FrilledShark1252007.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 04:55, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Additionally, I'm confused with this image. You specify it as self-made, then note that other parties have placed restrictions on its distribution. Is this an image that you have sold, such that you no longer control the copyrights on it? Or is this an image that you made by, e.g., scanning a photograph? —C.Fred (talk) 05:28, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry, it was the wrong one. Now I can't find it :( How do I delete images? I decided I want to remove this one, Mpattern.jpg, and Goldenfinch.jpg because I realized those particular ones are protected under a previous "publication" of mine through deviantart. Indistinct.jpg, on the otherhand, is not.

I'm going to delete the frilled shark, mpattern, and goldenfinch images right now. Then I'll look at indistinct. —C.Fred (talk) 05:35, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks.

I'm not sure I need to add a copyright for an image I took. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Salinedrumline (talkcontribs) 05:07, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Technically, it should be speedy deleted for this comment you made about it: "May only be used for educational purposes and not reproduced for profit…" Non-commercial licenses are not compatible with Wikipedia. Please either release it under Creative Commons or GFDL, or tag it as {{db-author}} to request it to be removed. —C.Fred (talk) 05:22, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

What I meant was that it was okay to redistribute for educational purposes, but not to like, make prints of it and sell them. Is that not okay? The Creative Commons license I'm familiar with is for non-profit redistribution. How do I reword it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Salinedrumline (talkcontribs) 05:27, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

You tag it as a non-commercial creative commons image and then provide a fair-use rationale. Images restricted against commercial distribution are under the same set of rules as copyrighted/non-free images. —C.Fred (talk) 05:31, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I stand corrected. Per Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Deprecated: "Non-free Creative Commons licenses: Do not upload images for which one of the tags in this section applies. Instead, if it is your work, consider licencing the work under a Creative Commons License that is acceptable for use in Wikipedia or releasing it into Public Domain." —C.Fred (talk) 05:34, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

It's okay. Thanks for all your help. Please see my recent comment on the shark image, I realized there was a further complication with 3 out of my 4 uploaded images.
