Hey, welcome to the Films WikiProject! We're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of films and film characters. If you haven't already, please add {{User WikiProject Films}} to your user page.

A few features that you might find helpful:

• Most of our important discussions about the project itself and its related articles take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.

• The project has a monthly newsletter. The newsletter for December has been published. January's issue is currently in production; it will be delivered as a link, but several other formats are available.

There is a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:

• Want to jump right into editing? The style guidelines show things you should include.
• Want to assist in some current backlogs within the project? Visit the Film Tasks template to see how you can help.
• Want to know how good our articles are? Our assessment department has rated the quality of every film article in Wikipedia. Check it out!
• Want to collaborate on articles? The Cinema Collaboration of the Week picks an article every week to work on together.

Helpme

I believe the article Muhsin Muhammad should be locked. There is a minor revert war going on concering his nickname & some folks thinking they were booing him. There have been at least 4 edits & reverts of the same issue. --Sand Squid

I'll look into it. Pages are normally unprotected unless it gets really bad, but I can ask the parties involved to stop, and ask them to work towards a consensus. There is a procedure if things need to be taken further, but I hope that won't be the case. --h2g2bob 00:46, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

(In reply to your comment here on my talk page) The page is only semi-protected (so you can still edit it, only people without an account are prevented). Someone will lift the protection at some point, but you can ask User:Cbrown1023 (who protected the page) to lift the protection if you want. Emmett Till

I routinely revert deletions made without explanation by anons. In the future, please give a reason for your edits and they'll be less likely to be mistaken for vandalism. As of the edit itself, I'm not a fan of "cultural mentions". But if, for example, a book or a song is written about Till then that seems like an appropriate thing to include, unlike a passing mention in a song. You deleted both.[1] I'm not going to revert the deletion, but I suggest you review the list and make sure that the items are all held to a comon standard. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 00:59, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

Pittsburgh event for Wikipedia's tenth anniversary

Hi! Since you're a member of WikiProject Pittsburgh, I wanted to invite you to the Wikipedia Tenth Anniversary celebrations we're having in Pittsburgh on Saturday, January 15. During the daytime, we're going to be having a photo contribution drive where anyone can bring in their digital photos or prints and Wikipedians will teach people how to upload them and add them to articles, and maybe introduction to Wikipedia workshops as well. Then in the evening, we'll have fun at the Carson City Saloon. There will be free Wikipedia t-shirts and other goodies, as well. See the Pittsburgh meetup page for more details. Wikipedia:WikiProject Pittsburgh activity

Wikipedia:WikiProject Pittsburgh is rolling out some new features (see our discussion at WT:PITTSBURGH). We are also trying to determine how many members are active. If you could go to Wikipedia:WikiProject Pittsburgh/Members and move your name from inactive to the active or semi-active group (depending on your interest in Pittsburgh issue and overall activity) groups, this would be great. You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment.
