Welcome
editHello, Sangelini1! Welcome to Wikipedia! It appears that you are here to participate in a class project. If you haven't done so already, we highly encourage you to go through our training page that's specifically created and catered for students such as yourself:
If you need help, check out Wikipedia's page for questions. You can also ask me by visiting my user talk page and leaving a message, or you can ask your question on this page by editing it and placing {{Help me}}
before your question. Please make sure that you sign your messages on discussion pages, which is done by entering four tildes (~~~~) at the very end of it; this will automatically insert your username and the date. I also highly recommend that you review the advice for students page.
Before you create an article, make sure that you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.
Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, and if your class doesn't already have one, please tell your instructor about creating one. It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}}
on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know that the article is a subject of an educational assignment as well as aid your communication with them.
Here are some more pages that you might find helpful:
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page (editing policy)
- Introduction to Wikipedia
- Help pages index
- Visual editor tutorial
- Wikitext tutorial (if you're choosing to edit pages using the Wikitext source code instead of the VisualEditor)
- Wikitext cheatsheet
While editing:
- Maintain a neutral point of view – this is one of Wikipedia's core policies.
- Be bold, but do not add troublesome content to any article, such as: copyrighted text, libel, advertising or promotional messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject; doing so will result in your account or IP being blocked from editing.
- Respect copyrights – do not copy and paste text or images directly from other websites.
- No edit warring or abuse of multiple accounts.
- Provide reliable sources to the content you add. If you are adding biomedical information, please follow this guideline.
- Take particular care while adding biographical material about a living person to any Wikipedia page and follow Wikipedia's Biography of Living Persons policy. Particularly, controversial and negative statements should be referenced with multiple reliable sources.
- If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
We hope you like it here and encourage you to stay with us as a member of the community - even after your assignment is finished. Your time, energy, and your contributions will be highly valued and appreciated among us.
Welcome!

Your contributed article, Migrant Workers
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Migrant Workers. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Migrant worker. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Migrant worker. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.
If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. DatGuyTalkContribs 20:42, 18 November 2022 (UTC)
Need In line citations for article
editHi Sangelini1 and Brianreyes2001! I noticed you moved your wiki contribution to mainspace, and created a live article on Wikipedia. At this time, the article needs more work. Missing References & Inline Citations: Don't forget that everything you add to Wikipedia need to be supported by references to reliable sources. Please review the Sources and Citations training if you need a refresher on how to add sources. They are a must when writing a Wikipedia article. Also you have no in line citations to support your content. Keep in mind every statement should be followed by a supporting citation; if a group of sentences are all supported by the same source, you can place a single reference after all of them, but you need to have at least one reference per paragraph, and you shouldn't have any statements after the final reference in a paragraph. If you need a refresher on how to add citations, please consult this training module. Lead Section: A good lead summarizes the entire article by briefly covering all important aspects of the topic. The first sentence should serve as a definition of the article topic, with the topic itself — be it a person, place, thing, idea or concept — in bold, and a brief description that puts it into context. Check out how Editing Wikipedia for tips and examples on writing a good lead section.Brianda (Wiki Ed) (talk) 22:50, 30 November 2022 (UTC)
Migrant workers in the Delmarva Peninsula moved to draftspace
editAn article you recently created, Migrant workers in the Delmarva Peninsula, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. Sources may exist, but until we have some cited in this article, it does not belong in mainspace.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia).
As a secondary consideration, those images are suspect - you claim them as "own work", but they were created in 2013. You're a university student in 2022 - did you really take those yourself 9 years ago? If so, why are you uploading them as digital images of physical photographs? I intend to nominate them for deletion on Wikimedia Commons; please respond there if you can justify how they are indeed your own work.
I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. ♠PMC♠ (talk) 04:50, 3 December 2022 (UTC)
Please stop
editDraft:Migrant workers in the Delmarva Peninsula, Draft:Migrant laborers in the Delmarva area, Draft:Migrant Laborers in the Delmarva area... Could you and yoru classmates please stop tryin to push this into the mainspace? Let someone uninvolved (i.e. not from your school or WikiEdu) judge the article instead. Please read and follow WP:AfC. And please tell whoever had the idea that we needed an article on Migrant Workers that we already had one, at Migrant worker. Fram (talk) 16:57, 8 December 2022 (UTC)
