Editing (Jackson Stephens) 2020
editOn March 30, 2020, I updated the existing page for https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jackson_Stephens and was paid directly by SBW Ventures on behalf of Mr. Jackson (Steve) Stephens. I am a freelance editor with no connection to either of these entities other than that they needed someone who could edit Wikipedia pages. His page was a skeleton page created by someone else. YoungStartup Ventures
editHi Sarah. Thanks for helping out around here. After having an involved conversation with a member of YoungStartup ventures, i found it a little concerning that there was a substantial appearance of positive contributions from you in the article which closely echoed the perspective I heard directly from the staff member I spoke with. Without accusing you of anything in particular, please be mindful of our rules about engaging in articles where one may have a Conflict of Interest. For example, if someone work(ed) for YSV or were hired to improve its article, we have a provision in our terms of use requiring full disclosure of that relationship. That said, inclusion of 'positive' information about YSV that is well-sourced and given proper weight is welcome. If I am completely off-base here, accept my apology in advance. Please let me know if you have any questions. Best, Jake Ocaasi t | c 19:27, 18 September 2015 (UTC)
Reply to Jake Ocaasi
editHi, Jake. To: Ocaasi t | c 19:27, 18 September 2015 (UTC)Not to worry, I have never worked for YoungStartup Ventures and I was not hired to make changes on their page. Someone asked me to do a favor to add content, and I have never even met anyone at that company or anyone related to that company. Later, as I was editing an unrelated book, I realized I had made some mistakes on the YSV Web page and needed to update some additional facts, so I made the changes. The original page seemed slanted in a negative way, and I just added factual content such as a Forbes magazine article and the company Web site, which made sense to me and which made the page more balanced. Hope this makes sense. Sincerely, Sarah SarahRMadden (talk) 16:41, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. editHi, Sarah
editYou commented in Quora and I thought we might want to get more acquainted. You can of course read every dumb thing I say about myself in my userpage. Have you ever been to a meeting of Wikkans? Meta:Wikimedia District of Columbia get-togethers have been suspended due to the virus but they still do online sessions. Hmm, I'll get back to our discusssion in Quora but here in Wikispace there's a better chance of finding a more interested audience here in Wikispace. Oh, come to think of it, join the Wiknic tomorrow! Wikipedia:Wiknic Jim.henderson (talk) 16:03, 15 August 2020 (UTC)
