Your edits on Unification of Karnataka
editHi Sarvabhaum, You seem to be a brand new user to Wikipedia. I simply love the freshness new editors bring to Wikipedia. But your recent edit on the Unification of K article is against many WP policies, most importantly WP:AGF. You have reverted to an edit by an ip where the ip had blanked content without any explanation, which infact borders on vandalism. If you have any concerns about that article or any article for that matter, please voice your concerns on the talk/discussion page of the article. I am sure your concerns will be addressed by fellow editors. Thanks and have a wonderful day! Sarvagnya 18:33, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

- Probably the best way to handle it is to bring it up on either the article talk page or his talk page. Also, on your part, it would be best if you only used verifiable (English) references, and if you feel that you absolutely must include a non-English reference, do that as a separate edit. editI've e-mailed User:Dineshkannambadi asking him not to indulge in revert wars. I have also pointed out that the non-English citations are valid, although they should be avoided when suitable English citations are available.
If you two feel that talks are not resulting in any consensus, it's better to go for a formal dispute resolution process instead of indulging in revert wars.
As about the Seuna Yadavas page, there's no need to trim the Karnataka section since it's cited -- it'll be better to work on expanding the Marathi section instead. Keep cool! utcursch | talk 12:22, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

- "Also Utcursch has confirmed to me that English language citations should be used as first preference and non_english citations should not be used when English books are available".

Or please stay out of these articles you are unnecessarily holding up.thanks.Dineshkannambadi 15:59, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- If you are concerned about a Marathi book being used in the Seuna page, please discuss with utcursch and have that book and its citation removed. What is wrong on Seuna page cant become right on Chalukya page. It is not our job to go and clean up every article that uses non English books on English wiki nor are the mistakes by others a reason for us to make the same mistakes. If you feel Vaidya and Bhandarkar's views are valid, find English books written by them and quote them. - your comment "Preference comes to picture when same matter is available with the books/websites"

Nichalp's research and suggestions-My replies
editDispute
editHi, I have gone through the sources that Sarvabhaum has provided and what was posted on my talk. These are my findings:
- Britannica source says that it is probable that the "Rashtrakuta also spoke another northern Deccan language." -- This can be added, keeping it as vague as the source as to what language was spoken.
Dinesh-->unless you can prove that the northern deccan language was Maharashtri Prakrit, we cant add that to the Rashtrakuta page and most definitely not "Marathi" unless you can provide a source for that (the same holds good for Chalukya page). If you want dispute resolution you can go for RFC on this.Dineshkannambadi 20:13, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
- Some of the Marathi scanned documents cited wasn't very clear, (resolution issues) so no comments.
Dinesh-->None of your Marathi sources can be allowed on account of this unless you want to go for RFC on this one. I suppose they will bring in a native Marathi speaker to help out with translations.Dineshkannambadi 20:13, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
- If "C.V.Vaidya states that Chalukya are pure Maratha kshatriyas" and a source is present, we should mention it in the article. "According to historian CV Vaidya..." to balance different historian views. As long as the historian has presented published views, we cannot discredit it, unless his theories were convincely proved incorrect by mordern day historians.
Dinesh-->C.V.Vaidya claims that the Eastern Chalukyas were Marathas who became Andhras. We can add this in the section pertaining to Eastern Chalukyas. I will put in the citation myself. But if you want the word Marathi or Maharashtri Prakrit added to the Eastern Chalukya section you will have to provide clear sources. I already have a citation indicating the Eastern chalukyas encouraged Kannada initially later switching to Telugu. This info comes from my English sources and the govt. of AP itself and is in English. If you want to prove that the entire Chalukya family (badami/eastern/western) were Maratha Kshatriyas, you will have scan over the sheets to the RFC committee, when it is appointed. As such, the article already contains info on what scholars feel the caste of the Badami Chalukyas was (differing opinions exist, see citations provided). Your friend dbkasar was meddling with cited info earlier.Dineshkannambadi 20:13, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
I have completed the Maratha origin citation in the Rashtrakuta main page and Origin of Rashtrakutas page. Dont try to POV in the Origin of Rashtrakutas page unless you can prove it with sources. I have also added the Britannica citation exactly the way user:Nichalp suggested.
I'm afraid I don't have any more time to mediate this dispute. Thanks! =Nichalp «Talk»= 19:11, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
My message: I hope you realise that eventually without clear proof most of your content will not go on the Chalukya/Rashtrakuta article. What you choose to do with this info is up to you. dbkasar's descendent info are not cited correctly and hence is not permissible. I suggest both of you decide what you want to do. thanks.Dineshkannambadi 20:13, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
- Please find a neutral party (an admin) and I shall be glad to fax/scan over my citations for Seuna Yadava page. Also, There are several Prakrits; Maharashtri, Magadhi, Sauraseni, Paisachi. You scanned page did not bother to specify which. Also try not to become abusive. Your failure to come up with accurate citations is not my fault. Even if your source meant Maharashtri Prakrit, it does not mean it was a administrative language unless you can provide a source for that. thanks.Dineshkannambadi 12:44, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
