License tagging for Image:FRD 1940s.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:FRD 1940s.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 06:06, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

Within the Barrington, Illinois article I had removed the link to the "official web" because the link is used as an inline link within the article, it is also in the info box (which is a standard for municipal articles), and it is used several times as a reference. Please see Wikipedia:Layout#External_links for how the "External link" section is to be used. If a link is used as a reference or is already used within an article, the link probably should not be in the "External link" section. Pknkly (talk) 17:39, 9 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Just a note of thanks for letting me know that you agreed and changed the article. Happy editing. Pknkly (talk) 22:38, 9 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

October 2014

edit

Your recent edit to List of jazz venues in the United States appears to have added the name of a non-notable entity to a list that normally includes only notable entries. In general, a person or organization added to a list should have a pre-existing article before being added to most lists. If you wish to create such an article, please first confirm that the subject qualifies for a separate, stand-alone article according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. Please either link to an existing article, or cite a 3rd-party source. See Talk:List of jazz venues#Scope of this list. Gyrofrog (talk) 18:21, 29 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Ok thanks for the feedback. Let me see if I can find enough evidence that the venue is notable, and possibly create an article. Sblument (talk) 18:29, 29 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:FRD 1940s.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:FRD 1940s.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 13:05, 15 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi User:HighKing I joined the WikiProject Food and Drink and would be willing to write an essay on notability for restaurants and bars. In case you wanted to work on that together lmk. I saw that someone tried and failed earlier to create a WikiProject restaurants. I think Food and Drink is more relevant for this vs. Companies.

DYK for Manny's Deli

edit

On 6 January 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Manny's Deli, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Manny's Deli in Chicago received national recognition for its popularity among politicians, including Barack Obama? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Manny's Deli. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Manny's Deli), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
