Headings on Sydney Roosters
editHey. I've noticed you've done a lot of hard work on the article Sydney Roosters. Just keep in mind that all headings must use a minimum of two equal signs (==) as per the Manual of Style. Keep up the good work. mdmanser 00:15, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
Thanks
editThanks for the creation of all those articles about Sydney Roosters players. Would you consider adding Category:Sydney Roosters players to all of them? Thanks. Just add [[Category:Sydney Roosters players]] to the bottom of the page. --Khoikhoi 03:28, 18 March 2006 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:Jackgib.JPG
editThis media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Jackgib.JPG. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 17:28, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

copyright
editIf that page is indeed a copyright violation, this is what you need to do
you must put at the top of that page {{copyvio|url=whatever}}, replacing whatever with the address of the copywritten material. Then, once that is done, that creates a new template on that page. There are further instructions on that template. Merely blanking the content is not the answer ⇒ SWATJester Ready Aim Fire! 07:53, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
Image Tagging for Image:Lion1.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Lion1.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Roosters Fansay
editIf you are doing what I think you are doing, which is starting articles for every season with an advertisement for Roosters Fansay at the bottom, please stop. Wikipedia is not an indescriminate collection of information, nor is it advertising space. Thanks. Reyk YO! 10:32, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
- Roosters fansay was a concept I just started then. I dont know how its advertising if its only just been created. The idea is to get fans to post fact based opinions of highlights of matches. Its to be used as an archive to give more information about games by allowing a large number of people to post what they remember as a large amount of information regarding games 50 years ago is only remembered by the memories of those who have seen it. This is an attempt to get pen to paper to preserve such highlights of the season. I think it justifies its existence. I hope you understand. Sbryce858 10:35, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
- Ah, I see now. I was under the impression you were trying to advertise a web forum or something like that. But what you're actually trying to do is set up a place where people can come and talk about their memories of games so that the coverage here is as full and extensive as it can be. That's heaps better. Unfortunately, that's still not what Wikipedia is about.
- Firstly, Wikipedia doesn't mention its community activities in the articles themselves. That's what talk pages are for. An article should only contain verifiable, and sourced, information on a topic. An article's purpose is only to convey information to whoever is reading it, not to ask that person to do something. Secondly, and this cannot be emphasized enough, an article needs to have reliable sources and unfortunately people who were at the game 50 years ago don't qualify.
- I hope you don't take it personally, but Wikipedia isn't the place for Roosters Fansay. Don't be discouraged- just because an idea you've had (and it's not a bad one, really) has had to be rejected doesn't mean Wikipedia doesn't need or want your contributions. On the contrary, someone with your enthusiasm would be a big asset, especially since Australian sport doesn't get the coverage it deserves. Cheers! Reyk YO! 11:04, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
- Excellent! Good luck with the project. Reyk YO! 01:44, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

Re : Protesting deletion
editYes, deletion review is the place you may be looking for. - Best regards, Mailer Diablo 05:34, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, Sydney_Roosters_1911_Season is kept by default when there is no consensus to delete the article. The conclusion of the deletion review by other articles will be determined based on the review itself, though this result may somewhat influence its eventual outcome. - Mailer Diablo 10:25, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
Sydney Roosters
editHi, The Roosters are out of deletion review, actually. They are at their second AfD now, which is a little overdue, at seven days (instead of five.) This is probably part of a general AfD backlog. I'd rather not close it myself, since -- although I abstained -- I am the titular nominator for the second AfD. Still, I'll keep an eye out, and if they aren't closed by weekend, I'll do it. Best wishes, Xoloz 15:46, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:2005 roosthoopjers.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:2005 roosthoopjers.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 18:40, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

editGday Sbryce (Shannon?). You might be interested to know that I've put a few suggestions up on Talk:Sydney Roosters on how to improve the page to reach featured status. I don't believe the article is too far off now thanks to your endless contributions, so it'd be great if we could get your further input to get the article across the line. Sydney Roosters - Good Article
editWell we finally did it - the article is now considered "good", which means it's one of the top 2000 articles on the site. Congratulations for all the fine work you did, and now it's just a matter of adding a bit more length on the non-history sections to get it to featured. I've also started making a more detailed coaching list that I found somewhere else - it dates back to 1923. I'll add that plus a few pictures hopefully from next weekend's match and that will get it over the line. Cheers, --mdmanser 14:52, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
Re:Great contributions
editYeah thanks. I guess you made the basic framework of the article and I've just based it on that. At the moment the featured article candidate is 2/4 votes positive which is a bit iffy. One of the editors wasn't happy with the prose so I've gone over and changed it. With some luck, we might get a few more supporting votes in the next few days. Once this article is made featured hopefully it'll pave way for more rugby league articles too. Who knows, we could collaborate a few featured Sydney Roosters and National Rugby League lists together. Anyway, all the best. --mdmanser 14:04, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
Image:AussieStadiumRoosters.jpg listed for deletion
editIf you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.
If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.
If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 15:31, 4 March 2007 (UTC)Fair use rationale for Image:Bryceclan.JPG
editThanks for uploading Image:Bryceclan.JPG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jesse Viviano 03:48, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Wolfhounds logo.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Wolfhounds logo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 03:06, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Rooster100 copy.gif)
editThanks for uploading Image:Rooster100 copy.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Sydney Roosters FAC
editI have nominated Sydney Roosters for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Remove" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Giants2008 (17-14) 01:32, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
Unreferenced BLPs
editHello Sbryce858! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 331 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Articles for deletion nomination of John Doyle (rugby league)
editI have nominated John Doyle (rugby league), an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/John Doyle (rugby league). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Notification of automated file description generation
editYour upload of File:Border 2.JPG or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.
This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks! Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. File permission problem with File:Trophy.gif
editThanks for uploading File:Trophy.gif. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 20:10, 16 June 2016 (UTC)
The file File:SydneyRoostersAwayJersey06.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
unused, low-res, no obvious use
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
Also:
This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:01, 26 November 2019 (UTC)
