I just recieved the notice that if I get more content deleted, I will be banned. Before just moments ago, no "new messages" tab came up, so I did not know there was a problem with my pictures, so I posted more, as at the time, I did not know of the warning, so I am probably going to be banned for something I didn't know I did???

I still don't understand how you show (or even check in the first place if there is) a license. Scixx (talk) 14:42, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

• Go to http://commons.wikimedia.org/, create an account and log in.
• On the left hand side, click on 'upload file'.
• If you want to upload photos (which you made/created yourself), use the 'It is entirely my own work' option.
• Follow the instructions and quite at the bottom, you can select the appropiate "Licensing:" from a drop down menu. The recommended option is: 'Multi License with CC-BY-SA-3.0 and GFDL....'

PS If you didn't take the photo yourself or if it isn't mentioned that the photo is some sort of public domain, you can be quite sure that it belongs someone else (copyright) and you are not allowed to use it...

I gave you a final warning about the Copyright and image use policies a few days back here on your talk page. I understand if you don't understand these policies, which is why I linked to them for your review. If you had reviewed them you would have noticed a noticeboard to place queries regarding copyrights. The last warning was meant to be exactly that, and it's up to you to review relevant policy (especially when you're warned about it) before doing the same action. I truly do mean it this time when I say if you upload more images without learning policy then there's little choice but to block you to prevent further disruption. Please review those policies and should you have queries after reading them over then seek advice. Nja²⁴⁷ 08:40, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

Sounds Good

The problem I had was that I was only warned after I uploaded all of the pictures that had copyright issues. Then I got a notice that one of the pictures (not the last one, but like the second or third from last) was my last warning, so I was afraid I would be banned without getting a chance to fix my mistake.

So there's no chance to redeem myself, like, if I make one more mistake ever, I'm banned. Seems a little harsh, but I do understand that you guys must have to deal with this sort of problem a lot, so I guess I can see where the policy comes from.

Think I'll just stop editing just in case, though, as I don't want to lose access to the site, so it seems best to play it safe.

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Paper-towel-roll.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 00:30, 31 August 2009 (UTC).
