Pacific Conference

edit

Hi, just noticed this article. I have a concern as to the notability of the subject. Wikipedia has strict rules regarding notability, which you can read about here. This is to stop people writing about just anything. If you do not provide evidence that the subject of the article meets notability guidelines, it could be deleted. Contact me if I can be of any help. J Milburn 21:48, 3 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I took a look at the sources that you cited, but neither of them really seem to mention the 'Pacific Conference'. Now, I don't know much about the American schooling system- what exactly is this conference? J Milburn 22:09, 3 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
Ah yes, I see. Now, my concern with the article is that it does not meet notability guidelines. The primary notability criteria is the basic rule for inclusion on Wikipedia. The basic gist of it is that the subject of the article has to have been written about, more than once, in a reliable, published source, which is independent of the subject itself. Also, it has to be a non-trivial mention. Some good places that the articles might well be would be various local papers. However, if the league doesn't meet the notability criteria, it would probably be better suited to being mentioned in the articles about the schools, with no article of its own. Please don't be put off if this is the case, someone interested in writing serious articles, or just making minor tweaks to existing ones, is always welcome at Wikipedia. Again, contact me if I can be of any help. J Milburn 22:25, 3 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
Sports leagues are by no means my area of speciality. However, if you find some articles in the local papers that tell you about the league, and not just mention the scores, that should certainly cover the notability guidelines. You don't have to find a link to them, there is a template here that allows you to cite newspapers, I use it myself all the time. However, there may well be online versions of the articles. Edit summaries

edit

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you.

AfD nomination of Hazelbrook Middle School

edit

An editor has nominated Hazelbrook Middle School, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hazelbrook Middle School and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. Proposed deletion of Oregon Association of Student Councils

edit

The article Oregon Association of Student Councils has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not appear to meet WP:ORG or WP:GNG

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
