Re: Please explain China Qing Dynasty Flag 1889.svg
editThat was the contemporary flag at the time of his birth in 1911. We do not usually use current flags for birth and death entries.--Jiang 10:21, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
None of that is relevant. What is relevant is what flag was flying over Hangzhou at the time of his birth. This is the convention, where flags are used at all (most articles do not use flags).--Jiang 10:36, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
Putting it next to the name is giving it too much prominence though. It's only relevant with the birthplace. Otherwise, we risk implying that Qian is an imperialist Manchu.--Jiang 10:45, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
- I use Che Guevara as a counter example. Argentina is his country of birth. We do not associate him with Argentina, though. Still, that flagicon is by his name. (sdsds - talk) 10:47, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
See where the flag is for our friend, Fidel Castro.
I really have no idea why the Che article has it like that. I dont recall seeing that elsewhere.--Jiang —Preceding comment was added at 10:50, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

- OK, I defer to your expertise. Thank you for improving the Tsien Hsue-shen article! (sdsds - talk) 10:56, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
Trademarks
editI responded at User talk:ArielGold.--Isotope23 talk 16:04, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks so much to Isotope for answering while I was sleeping :) I replied as well, and I went ahead and replied to your comment on the talk page, and cleaned up the article a bit. That wasn't the only issue that article has, but I think that the issues may come from simply a different way of doing things on other language Wikis. Not huge issues, but best to stay to the format here, I think. :) Ariel♥Gold 21:50, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

editYes...looks good. I guess I was stepping on your toes while you were adding the citation. My bad. Cheers. ++Arx Fortis (talk) 04:14, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
Marriage
editGot your request for help on the issue of human origins, marriage, and marriage ties. Take a look at the on-line article on this question at http://repositories.cdlib.org/imbs/socdyn/sdeas/vol1/iss2/art4/ It focuses precisely on this question. Am a bit busy now but can get back to this question if you alert me again. As for percent of marriages that are polygynous (whose? men's? women's) in the Muslim or Arab world, a possible Mid-Eastern ethnographer and comparativist to ask is Andrey Korotayev. Doug White

- I guess they weren't lieing when they said "speedily deleted", 4 hours later and bye bye. I wish I seen this earlier so I could have at least seen what the article was like. Are there list of pages in the "space" area that are marked for deletion? Rocketmaniac (talk) 09:43, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
I hope all is fine now. Sorry if I offended you

Glonass launch template
editHey there,
Wanted to touch base with you. I like the idea of information on up coming launches, but I really don't think a large blue box at the top of the article is the right way to handle it. The whole news vs encyclopedia thing, and focus of the article. Perhaps a GLONASS launch article, with stub in the main article, and then that article can have the template at its top. What do you think? - Davandron | Talk 00:50, 25 December 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks very much for your comments! A lengthier response is at Talk:GLONASS/Launch#Glonass launch template. (sdsds - talk) 03:06, 25 December 2007 (UTC)
- Note: this page has been moved to Template talk:Launching/GLONASS, and the redirect at the old location is up for speedy deletion. --GW_SimulationsUser Page | Talk 20:14, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
Just to let you know, concerns have been raised (see Template talk:Launching/TecSAR) over general update tags existing as mainspace subpages. I have moved them to the template namespace, as subpages of {{Launching}} to prevent deletion. Please can you create future tags in the same place. Thanks. --GW_SimulationsUser Page | Talk 17:57, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
- Great! Thanks for finding the best "home" for these. (sdsds - talk) 00:04, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
