Moved your message to me to Talk:Sergeant_Reckless#Sgt_Reckless and replied there. We can discuss, but I'm not going to be around much tomorrow, if at all.  !  ;-) Montanabw(talk) 08:00, 26 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Help Editing

edit

Please let me or @Mchuedem: know if we can help you in editing the Sergeant Reckless article. It is one of the articles that WP:GLAM/Pritzker has been working on. The book Sgt. Reckless: America's War Horse is the Pritzker Military Museum & Library's book club book for April 2015 (see: http://www.pritzkermilitary.org/events/book-club/book-club-discussion-sgt-reckless/ ).

Also, you might not be aware, but it is Wikipedia custom to state any potential conflicts of interest on your user page. If you need to see what a sample COI statement looks like, please check out my user page.

I hope that after this article gets righted you will continue to edit Wikipedia on military history topics as good researchers and editors are hard to come by and many people use Wikipedia articles as a staring point when researching a topic. TeriEmbrey (talk) 17:41, 26 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi Terry! OMG thank you for this! And thank you for letting me know about the Pritzker! That's awesome! Oh, I'm so embarrassed about the COI - I only kept putting my references in there because I thought I HAD to! Yes! I would love help! I did reply to the link above where the discussion is - not knowing who I need to work with or whatever, of course I don't want to do anything wrong! I don't need any references to my changes that list my book - I just want to get it right! Many, many MANY thanks! How should we proceed? I was going to list the changes that I think need to be made and post them on that page that was set up in the Message above? THANKS TERRY! Sgtreckless1 (talk) 17:56, 26 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Mchuedem: Ok. If you list out what's inaccurate on the article's talk page, we'll try to fix. TeriEmbrey (talk) 18:01, 26 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

You are a rockstar! Thanks so much! Sgtreckless1 (talk) 18:06, 26 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

I am a bit concerned about the COI issue. I think someone else needs to find this book and take a look at it. Montanabw(talk) 08:11, 28 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Montanabw You don't need to cite anything using my book as a reference if you are worried about any of that, and I'm happy to sign or make a COI statement or do what I need to do to make everyone feel comfortable with the changes that I suggest. Everyone has worked so hard to make this a wonderful, accurate article and I'm so grateful for that because when I started researching this story over 8 years ago, there wasn't anything on Wikipedia about Reckless, so she's come a long way! :) I can give other references to any and all changes that I suggest. Would you like for me to send you my book (free of charge, of course) so you have it and can see the references I used? Happy to do it! My only goal is to get the information correct. So you know, I have 13 pages of Notes in the back of the book and 8 pages of Bibliography. I'm a stickler for the facts as I know you all are here - which is just wonderful - and that's why I'm so excited to be working with everyone to get this right! I can't tell you how much I appreciate this! Sgtreckless1 (talk) 17:50, 28 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

I am glad you have such a welcoming attitude. If you click the "email this user" link at my talkpage and send me a message, we can discuss a copy of the book. I am somewhat careful about my identity on-wiki, I prefer to stay anonymous here, but several users have met me IRL can vouch for me if needed. Montanabw(talk) 06:42, 1 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Montanabw: - I hope you received my email! For some reason when I sent a copy to myself it bounced back to me - something about my email not being correct or something? Is there a "Wikipedia for Dummies" book I can read to learn how all the ins and outs and symbols to use? hahahaha! I feel like such a twit! Many thanks! Sgtreckless1 (talk) 16:45, 3 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

I DID get your email, my real life has gotten quite busy right now so I'm not going to be a whole lot of help with anything(!), but I will refer you to my presentation account User:MontOther, where I have a bunch of disorganized raw links to a bunch of training pages! Battle for Outpost Vegas

edit

@Jdanbeck: has been working on the article Battle for Outpost Vegas. It needs a few more tweaks. He also wrote a "Did You Know..." nomination for it? TeriEmbrey (talk) 21:21, 3 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
