Owen Hurcum

edit

Hello and Welcome!

Noticed your edits on Owen Hurcum's page, and loved the addition of a picture!

There has been a bit of an edit war over their nationality, so I have started a conversation on the talk page. Would love your input so we can hopefully get an agreement. :) Dauwenkust (talk) 03:20, 26 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

As someone who knows Owen very well and works closely with them, I can 100% confirm that they define themselves as Welsh. Whilst Owen was brought up in London, their family comes from Pontypool in south wales, and Owen has always been drawn back to Wales. Owen was also a member of Plaid Cymru which is the National Party of Wales with an aim of an independent Wales, therefor they wouldn't like the name-tag 'British'. That is all super good info. If you could please repost this on Owen's Talk page so that other editors working on this page can see this and we can build a consensus that would be very helpful. Also if you happen to have independent references as first person comments tend to be viewed as "original research" and is usually discounted by most Wikipedia editors. I know that can feel counterintuitive, but its part of how the project operates. But if post this at the talk page with source, I am happy to help build a consensus around Welsh and hopefully stop the edit war :) Dauwenkust (talk) 23:40, 26 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
