Welcome!

edit

Hello, Shelley Rodner, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions, especially your edits to Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds – The New Generation. I'm sorry, but I had to revert your edit. I'm sure Gordy Marshal is an accomplished musician, but we can't say all that there in the article; that is just the place where we list the musicians. As well, we can't make an edit if we have a conflict of interest, we can only edit in a neutral way. Regardless, I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few links to pages you might find helpful:

Blocked From Editing

edit

I am the Music Publicist for Gordon Marshall. On May 10th I submitted revisions for his listing on Wikipedia. During the process, I received several messages purporting to be from Wikipedia however they appeared to be spam and I discarded them. Ironically at the same time, I was being ‘flagged’ as a spammer.

I now see that my ‘Shelley Rodner’ account on Wikipedia is blocked from doing any further edits.

I appreciate the process to detect and remove spam on ALL platforms not only Wikipedia. In many cases, it is apparent that people are blocked in error. This is certainly the case for my edits. I can assure you that I am NOT trying to add spam to my client's Wikipedia listing.

A link to Gordy Marshall’s website in addition to his radio program appear to be in violation of Wikipedia policy.

I will be happy to remove all active links in the copy. Please advise if anything else in the copy is not in compliance.

Please advise.

Respectfully Yours, Shelley Rodner Shelley Rodner (talk) 13:10, 11 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi Shelley. A few notes if I may. First, you have a (previously undisclosed) conflict on interest as Marshall's publicist. Please read Wikipedia's guideline on the matter: WP:COI. The section on paid editing applies here.
Second, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. not a place for advertising. A central policy of ours is that Wikipedia articles must be written from a neutral point of view. Please read WP:NPOV. Your addition was clearly written as a publicity piece which is at odds with a neutral point of view.
Third, you placed the addition in what is called a disambiguation page (see WP:D), which allows readers to navigate to specific articles. It should not contain detailed material about any one of the Gordon Marshall's listed there. This is a minor point, compared to the others.
Finally, if you want to be considered for unblocking, you need to read and follow the instructions listed in the block notice above. Simply writing on your talk page will not result in your request being considered. Best, Grachester (talk) 15:16, 11 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
