Welcome December 2009

Welcome!

Hello, Shihan 883, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. There are standards developed by the Wiki community concerning articles of Japanese culture.

Wiki distinguishes the names of people born before and after 1868: before 1868, Japanese order (Family name, First name) is used; after 1868, Western order ( First name, Family name) is used. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style (Japan-related articles)#Names. 窪田孝行 was born after 1868: in Wiki, he is referred to as Takayuki Kubota.

Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style_(biographies)#Honorific_prefixes discusses the use of titles; Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Martial_arts#Contradiction has a discussion of the Wiki Martial Arts project usage recommendations. Briefly, to say 'Takayuki Kubota is Soke' or 'Takayuki Kubota is Grand Master' is acceptable (and should have a reference.) Nobody here means disrespect to 宗家窪田孝行 when he is referred to as 'Takayuki Kubota' or 'Kubota' in the article.

Stop by at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Martial_arts to see other activities in martial arts in Wikipedia. jmcw (talk) 21:26, 7 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
