  Hello, I'm Gfoley4. I noticed that you recently removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. • See WP:COI your edits were promotional, please revert them and make suggestions on the talk page instead. This is not facebook and articles are not owned by the subject instead they are supposed to be neutral and best written by editors unconnected with the subject in order to avoid promototionalism, regards Atlantic306 (talk) 23:41, 30 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

They werent promotional. The previous bio that existed and was not reverted was no different except for I added a movie that was missed. Wiki is supposed show accurate information about the person.

Sorry but that makes no sense. I did read it... however this is not COI because nothing biased was written. You can see at imbd.com and vudu that he directed Adventure Force 5. That is the only new info added, and once there is a page for that movie, i can link it... but i can also add citation to that sentence if that helps. I dont think Wiki should support out dated information either.

Hello Shonnamartell. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, such as the edit you made to Michael Younesi, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat SEO.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Shonnamartell. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Shonnamartell|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. scope_creepTalk 00:20, 31 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Minor update

edit

You guys are really confusing me. I am not paid to do anything, i simply added the new movie :) His bio has been sitting here with issues until I tried to add a movie? So... someone else randomly will need to add this movie before it is approved? I am not paid by him, I only started his approval in order to get by thinking that was requested on here. I am not a Wiki pro.. first time I am updating anything on here. I wouldnt need to charge to add a movie that is on every other site.

January 2020 - COI & Sockpuppetry

edit
  • You were asked to make the proper declarations about your conflict of interest before editing again. Perhaps the {{uw-paid1}} was too specific, and {{uw-coi}} fits your self-perception. So:

  Hello, Shonnamartell. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.

The caution was not an invitation to create other accounts to avoid scrutiny. Your sockpuppet accounts have been blocked permanently, and this account for a week. When your block has expired you are welcome to resume editing but please make the required declarations before doing so. Cabayi (talk) 14:48, 3 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

I removed the edits yet you guys tagged his page with all sorts of warnings. How are these removed? I am so confused about what needs to be done. Shonnamartell (talk) 01:15, 4 January 2020 (UTC) I just read all the articles linked on the page ... and everything it asked me to do I can't do while blocked. so i guess i will have to wait.Reply

Can you guys just say in normal terms what needs to be done to remove the notices? I don’t want to put anything else on there at this point, it’s just too much work to add a movie .. in top of there, all the information is the same as been on here for God knows how long... it’s so odd that the same content is now biased?? These notices weren’t on his page prior to my update and since nothing other than the last sentence has been changed, it makes now sense why now all these things are wrong with the page Shonnamartell (talk) 01:20, 4 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

we do not encourage paid editors, so there are some procedures to follow. If you look above in the December 2019 section, you were asked to disclose your employer and client. You could start by doing that. You may find it difficult to get things done at this point as you appear to have violated community trust by sockpuppeting. But there is always hope. ThatMontrealIP (talk) 01:49, 4 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

I dont even know what sock puppetry is. I have never been on Wiki before now, and quite frankly its all a bit much. I remember professors in college saying Wikipedia is not a valid source and we shouldnt use, I never thought it would be this difficult to add a sentence.. however ill attempt to jump through the hoops.Shonnamartell (talk) 02:17, 4 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

and the craziest part is the update i made isnt even in the post anymore.. so i have no input on that article.Shonnamartell (talk) 02:23, 4 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Also, how on earth do i address "Notability" if all my edits will be removed because I am deemed "COI" ... :/ Shonnamartell (talk) 02:27, 4 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

You said earlier explicitly that you are Younesi's web strategist/web designer/marketing person, or words to that effect. So you have a conflict. Sockpuppeting is what you did when you created other accounts, like Dontplaywithme55, although you did not get around to using that one. To be perfectly honest, if you cannot be bothered to read, understand and comply with the COI policy above, which has been pointed out many times, I don't think you will be able to make any further contributions as you will be blocked again once you start.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 02:43, 4 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

I am honestly not even trying to be deceitful, i just wanted to make that one update. I just read everything but there's nothing I can do while blocked, so i will just wait I guess. I wasnt aware of how it works here, i thought you can just get online and make the edit if i could back it up with sources. Its just conflicting messages because it tagged the page as not having enough information but I cant add any so I thought that was ironic... but i surrender, when i'm unblocked, Ill try to follow the steps on the page. Shonnamartell (talk) 03:00, 4 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Ok thanks. If you want to make suggestions to change the Younesi page, you can request them on the article talk page and an unconnected (no COI) editor will review the request. That is how it works.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 03:12, 4 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
