A nice start, Samaria, but you only posted books. Did you even take a look to see if they were available at the library here at FIU? Did you skim them to see if they would help you? It is imperative that you find academic articles in addition to your books because the articles will be MUCH more easily digested than books. You have what appears to be a nice mix of books, but if I could recommend one book that you MUST read (in its entirety!), it is Michelle Alexander's "New Jim Crow." That book is highly relevant and will bring a lot of very important information to you and your article. @Shortieex: Hi Samaria: I was a bit confused that you did not move stuff to your mainspace. Is everything okay? You added a bunch of stuff to your sandbox, but you did not move anything over to the main page of your article. This was what the assignment was for week 9. Yes sir. Unfortunately, I had to go home earlier this week for a family emergency and did not come back on campus until late Wednesday night. However, I did try to move my stuff to the main space but it did not allow me to under my article's name. Do I move it onto a new article name? Also, I did check on the book you mentioned in the comment above, but the book is unavailable. I've been on the waiting list for a couple weeks now and even tried to request it from a different school. Hi, Samaria, this is is Zonya and I will be peer reviewing your article. I read the plan that you posted in the article's talk page and also what you wrote in your sandbox. So far, I think you have great ideas and I believe that they'll be excellent additions to the article. In conjunction with the things you plan to contribute, there are a few things that I think you should consider:

-Linking Criminal Justice Act 1991 in the article since it does have a Wiki page that does a pretty good job of explaining what it is.

-Researching how this (race and crime) relates to another country since the article is not limited to just the United States. I think this would help to balance the article and keep it neutral.

-How certain factors (such as poverty) may influence people of certain races to commit crimes.

-Searching for a few academic articles so that you can include useful statistics that may shed light on how race and crime may be related in a particular country.

→→ I found an article that you may find interesting (regarding the United States). In the first few pages it explains how underrepresented people of color are in legislature and how they are viewed by both the public and government. It also points out media bias and how white-collar offenders (statistically white people) are rarely labeled and viewed as criminals whereas it's the complete opposite for black people who commit "street" crimes. Although it's a criminal justice article and not one from a sociological journal, it seems pretty useful. However, if you decide to use it, you should consider asking Professor Garcia if it's relevant enough to the project.

Hello, Zonya. I would like to thank you for taking the time out to review what I have so far. I have a lot of plans to add in order to make this article great. I will be taking a look at the source that you found and looking into the questions you suggested. My plan was to talk about race and crime in the United States because the whole world or in relation to other countries will be too broad to cover. I look forward to you seeing my finished article.
