Conflict of interest?
editHello Shuckers. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Bay Area Shuckers, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.
All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.
If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:
- Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
- Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
- Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
- Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.
Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Tom Danson (talk) 05:01, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

Doing well on Shuckers
editThe changes you have made today on Bay Area Shuckers are really a great big step in the right direction. Keep up the good work! Remember, per the above entry on your talk page, that your edits on this page will be held to a higher standard due to WP:COI. I might suggest that you look at other professional basketball team pages, looking for pages that are rated either good or FA. Try to copy the layout on those pages as a goal for your sourcing and writing. It will take a lot of time to get there, but it is good to have goals, no? Keep up the good work! Adoption
editOne of the best ways to learn about Wikipedia is to ask for "adoption". Your adopter will put you through a short school and will be there to help and mentor you. I started a userpage for you. The next thing coming in this entry is something called a userbox. Open this message in edit mode and copy the userbox to your userpage and in a few days someone will contact you with an offer to adopt you! Gtwfan52 (talk) 20:36, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
Another good source of help is the "Teahouse", a place especially designed to help newcomers learn their way around Wikipedia. Happy editing! Gtwfan52 (talk) 22:11, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
If you're looking for an adopter, I'd be happy to adopt you. I have an adoption school, which I opened very recently. Tell me on my talk page, if you'd like to join. Adam Mugliston Talk 10:27, 13 May 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Shuckers. I've removed the "request for adoption" from your userpage because you've not edited recently. Given the number of users starting on the encyclopedia each day and the number who look for adoption, there can often be a backlog when just displaying the request. You are much more likely to find an adopter if you are pro-active about it, perhaps asking an editor or two from the list of adopters if they would consider adopting you? Good luck in finding someone to help out. WormTT(talk) 10:14, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
